More Enjoyable Loading in WoW?

Is there an addon or perhaps a Blizzard dev that could improve the bland wow loading screens?

Perhaps an addon that let’s you play some of the simpler minigames from the nazjatar world quests? Or basically an addon that lets you play tetris or something when loading screens are going?

Extra Credits did a great video on ways to improve loading screens. It would be nice if someone could make an optional loading screen minigame that does not affect the main game. Or maybe have the loading screens let you read the various lore comics and books set in the wow universe.

All it does right now is make me go afk and watch a youtube video about WoW lore because it’s less boring than waiting up to 4 minutes at times just to get finished the loading screen and moving on to begin loading the textures in new dalaran or boralus when servers are especially slow to load.

Bruh.

My PC is so fast the loading screens are less than 5 seconds. Perhaps a better GPU or CPU will help you out.

Better ask Santa

Loading screens have to do with owning an ssd and hoping your server isn’t lagging. On high pop servers you can’t avoid them.

Also weird flex but ok…

If you still have WoW on a hard drive getting yourself a SSD for Christmas/Hanukkah/Just because will be a major improvement.

At least get it done before Shadowlands~

I’m on a high pop server and they are still only a few seconds.

Again on high pop servers they aren’t going away. This is a server side issue.

Regardless, until they cease to exist, which is unlikely to happen anytime soon, there are so many better ways than blizzard punishing players because we have better things to spend our money on than overpriced ssds just to save 30-60 seconds on initial boot loads.

My loading screen is never longer than 3 seconds these days. NVMe makes all the difference.

I’m on the same server as you but alright.

Trust me when I say i’m far from the only one on proudmoore with this issue. I have friends and community mates with full ssd setups that have the exact same server side issues with loading for boralus and new dalaran. Flexing about how much disposible income you have doesn’t change the fact that wow has terible loading screen problems.

It’s not a flex, its pretty much standard now. I’m sorry you’re having issues but if it was as bad as you say people would be much more vocal, no one likes loading screens after all.

Its not a common issue so if you want a solution may want to research why it’s affecting you and not dismiss folks.

You can change a setting in your WTF directory, Config file and put in this line

SET worldPreloadNonCritical "0"

It’ll reduce loading screen time as it’ll load non-essential information after you logged in rather than upfronting everything.

Gonna ask that people please respond to the topic instead of derailing the conversation and going off topic. It’s not about how i personally can throw money to avoid dealing with the design problems of wow’s loading screens, but how to improve them so that the many players that do experience them at least have something to do besides read 15 year old gameplay tips. There are many rigs people make use of to play wow, including laptops and older secondary rigs their kids use among any number of other use cases where ssds are not economically viable even for people who don’t have other financial needs that might prevent them from upgrading. SSDs large enough to store wow is not an option for any number of cases, so that specific solution is a distraction from the topic at hand.

I’d love it if we got dozens more loading screens. There’s probably hundreds of fan art pieces out there, some of which are stunning. Rotate from those instead of the same ones again and again.

Press alt tab and play your minigame there.

This was actually patented until recently… Up until then, if you had a minigame in a load screen and didn’t pay royalties, you were chumming the waters for a lawsuit.
