I certainly hope now that Dracthyr got some more classes, they’ve gone back to expanding at least Paladin and Shaman to more races. I would love to play a Forsaken Paladin and Worgen Shaman.
I was hoping the Warcraft Direct/2025 Roadmap would’ve shown that off today. It’s possible they get back to it when they update the roadmap patch-by-patch, but maybe they’ve changed their philosophy. Hopefully they keep “hearing the players loud and clear” and give us more combos soon.
Well they have officially announced all the base starting classes will be available to all races in time.
It’s honestly now more of a “when” will they be available…. Eventually you will be able to make your race/class combos you mentioned just who knows when.
I wish this were still the case…Holinka said this right before Dragonflight, then he quit Blizzard. Hazzikostas has since backtracked in an interview, saying how the Cenarion Circle or the Silver Hand likely wouldn’t recruit other races, or something to that effect.
I’m quite surprised how Night Elves didn’t get to be Shamans at this point, given their connection to nature, and more surprisingly that Warlocks came first.
I really love Shaman, but I don’t like any Alliance races that can be them.
It’s actually just one totem, because they are the same with different particle effects.
All and all, I feel it’s much easier to design that - a stationary asset that doesn’t have real character movement - than for example druid forms for new races.
There’s actually slight differences so it’s an edited single totem model. Multiply that by how many races are missing Shaman because they seem to want to drop them all at once and yeah…
