More dog models

I started a survival hunter alt a month ago, primarily because I liked the idea of fighting side by side with my dog. What was disappointing is that there isn’t a tameable dog/wolf model that looks like a rottweiler. As I was looking at the options it occurred to me that there are a lot of popular breeds of dogs that don’t have a good model. It would be really awesome to get a lot of those added to the game, hunter is the pet class after all.

Definitely need more then just the Mastiff dog breed to tame. Bring on the Retrievers, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Giant Schnauzers, and Clumber Spaniels.

It would be neat to have a tiny little dog, like a Toy Poodle, as a Hunter pet.

Give shamans the option to use soulshapes they’ve unlocked as their ghost dog.

(and more dog models for hunters, too please.)

I miss when the mastiff model was actually like 3 or 4 dogs…

It’s still a head-scratcher to me that they made new dog models for BFA, like the “Norwington Hound” (no tails) and “Retriever” (tails) dog models with multiple color variants - and even bandanas or a harness with a bag like Nickel has in the Bolas and Birds quest - and then did NOTHING with them as either hunter or battle pets.

The artists of this game are definitely biased towards cats. It does need more dog breeds…

And Ducks.

Yeah more dog models would be cool but there are other Hunter pet families that need new models first.

Core Hounds (no new models since… Classic?)
Dragonhawks No new model since TBC
Sporebats Same model since TBC. Blizzard only added three new colors in WoD.
Tallstrider Got a model update but we’ve had the same 5 colors since 2004. Only one more was added in 2007.
Warp Stalkers Again, same model and 6 colors since TBC. Only one new color added in BfA.

Dogs on the other hand have 8 unique models and tons of color variation.

Well they weren’t tamable in Classic, I just meant they all are still using the same models but I guess there wasn’t an Omen back then? I can’t remember.

And they did get a slight skin update that I forgot about. Only Beast kept the old skin.
