More complex gear pls

I want more complexity in gear because I find that

  1. Stat weights
  2. Talents
  3. Azerite traits
  4. PVP talents
  5. And, the corruption system

are not nearly enough. The days where I focused more on the encounters and less on gear were terrible.

Please keep these systems into Shadowlands and bring back legendaries.

Also, great move on the follower system being integral in shadowlands. It’s been a huge hit in Najatar.

Edit: typos

I actually find that there needs to be a balance between skill level and gear ratios, for me to be happy playing this game.

I lean heavily in favor of mechanical skill outweighing gear and the favor of the RNG Gods.

Don’t forget tier sets + PvP gloves.

As for the followers, I actually enjoyed the Legion model, but Nazj wasn’t bad either.

/sarcasm ?

I almost mentioned that. Bring back resilience in top of the aforementioned gearing variables.

Permanent power gain in talents is for rubes!

The should add warforged and titanforging back while also keeping corruption. Bring back reforging and tier set bonuses while they are at it.

You are spot on sir.

Don’t forget stuff like scokets and nazatar bonuses and random effects like diver folly’s.

It’s really fun having to run a simulation everytime I get a new piece of gear to see if it’s an upgrade or not.

x2 brother

even if you say is sarcasm, the difference gotta come from the player capability.

Boom. You get it.

I just don’t care about DPS now, if the ilvl is higher (or the corruption is better), I wear it. It’s too big a waste of time to sim everything.

Good thing I don’t raid seriously anymore.

Edit: Thank bloodmallet for having an overall estimate of what’s better, since the game really does not tell you that.

I dunno, corruption is pretty much a mandatory sim to be honest.

Depends what you want out of complexity, something you can control? Something you can work out reasonably? Or just a lot of levers that you still habe to sim?

Honestly though I do miss hit, expertise and reforging. But I don’t think corruption isn’t complex in the terms that it is difficult to work out it’s value. (I have a tier 1 corruption ring ilvl 410 that outperforms all heroic raid drops. And no, it’s not inifite stars, it’s some haste proc)

I just feel that more complexity is inherently good. Hopefully Shadowlands can plumb the depths of complex gearing so that it can overshadow class skill.

Lol. Focus on encounters? Lol. All 2 mechanics?

You sure? I can think of at least three not counting the dynamics of group play when I’m healing.

But you’re right, the game was way less successful when it was a simpler, more RPG focused game. BFA is the height of success.

Lol.
Yeah, I got 420 corrupted bracers last night with the crit bonus. Was a good job I simmed them though because they are heaps better than both my 440 corrupted and 460 corrupted bracers lol.

I don’t know, I feel like some complexity is good but I do feel like there is also bad or needless complexity.
I’d personally for example not want to continue to see such large degrees of power given as RNG bonuses as it does devalur player skill.

I think gear complexity should be a player/class skill in itself but I don’t believe it should actually trump mechanical skill.
If you are similar geared and better skilled than the other person than you should perform better.
Not you are similarly geared and better skilled but player B happens to have an infinite stars trait and by default out dps you by 10k whilst still being bad.

Yes. WoW was successsful because it was the easy casual game. They have upgraded the raid mechanics and requirements and the majority of wow boomers can’t handle it.

So much so that they’d rather play a 15 year old game and spam 111122111.

Totally. This game has become less popular because it’s too hard. It needs to be the easy difficulty of Counter Strike or other twitch shooters.

Eh, most people play with raid addons these days anyway.
Sure mechanics weren’t as difficult in general but you also still had to be more attentive.

Yes I am aware that they were still out there, but they weren’t as strong nor as prolific as they are today.

That being said I also don’t know how mechanics have specific relation to gear either so I’m not aure why it was really mentioned in OP lol.
