More Classic Content

Now that the subject of Classic Servers have been breached and all speculation on whether the community would support them is settled once and for all. I’m humbly asking Blizzard to dedicate one server to a Legion Classic Server.

There is no reasonable excuse anymore, as this would take little resources and the team have all the information needed. This could be up and running before the week is out. The gameplay for the enhancement shaman was the greatest experience I ever had in WoW and I would re-subscribe today if I could go back to that PvP experience. (Also looking forward to trying Vanilla)

My talking points?

Whether slaying or being slain, I had a blast. Enough said.

Best regards,
Belgarath the Shaman

Many of these responses make no sense to me. I direct a message to Blizzard—first and foremost—requesting a Legion Legacy Server and many seem to immediately assumed that I was saying that every other expansion should not receive their own server as well. Not once did I even hint at such a thing and yet many who responded drew this conclusion.

Based on the evidence I’ve seen, a Legion Server is the equivalent to a buff job before leaving the shop that might see Blizzard make money off a product already made… Burning Crusade is an entire overhaul like Vanilla. BC could not be operational within a month, whereas Legion could probably be operational within a day. That is why Legion (as well as any other expansion that could be completed at the same speed) should be done as soon as possible. It’s only logical and not a personal attack. These other options of Legacy Servers could very well mean a rise in subscriptions at little to no cost to the company and that is the fundamental reason why I address this to Blizzard and not the community as one stands to make a sizeable profit and has the ability to see the request through, while the other can do nothing to aid the request in the slightest aside from post (at times) arbitrary opinions that serve no purpose at all.

I’m not trying to upset anyone, but unless you work for Blizzard, writing random opinions on this forum post is about all you’re good for… sorry.

As for why I want a legion server? It should be rather obvious to anyone who cared to think about it: I found the gameplay exciting and fun. Period.

As for the opinions of those whom were never addressed in the first place:

I support your wish to re-play vanilla. I always have. I support your wish to re-play BC, WOTLK, Cata, MoP and WoD. If you are paying a monthly fee, you have every right to play whichever expansion of WoW that you please. It’s not my place to judge the version of WoW that you prefer best anymore then you should judge anyone else.

No one is making you play Legion again. If you want nothing to do with it, then do not play it. Moreover, I thought that was the whole point of Legacy Servers in the first place: to reach out to players willing to give Blizzard money in exchange of experiencing content that they preferred and effectively bankroll the existence of new expansions to come? And if a Legion Legacy Server is as effortless as the evidence seems to suggest, and this might pull people back to subscribe, why is this suggestion so ridiculous?

In my opinion, the Legion PvP experience is worthy of the subscription fee. In fact, it would actually be a relief to me knowing that what little time I have to play WoW and build my character is slowly reaching a cap where one day I might actually have the best gear and Blizzard won’t be throwing a new patch out for me to gear grind later. It’s a relief to know that there’s no fear of falling behind, as sooner or later everyone will hit the end-of-game expansion wall. I’m relieved at the thought that I might reach an ultimate conclusion to an expansion and gameplay I really enjoyed. After this forum-experience, which just so happened to be the ONLY post I’ve ever made on a WoW Forum, I’m seriously looking forward to the fact that the server won’t be populated with players who are forced to play a version of the game that they outwardly despise. The entire idea leaves me excited at the prospect of making friends with others who (by their own free-will) would like to continue PvP’ing in the Legion expansion.

I’m more than happy to pay money for an experience I enjoy. I did not like the changes in gameplay for BFA. I felt disconnected from my character and for all us who have felt this disconnection before, Legacy Servers of all expansions should be supported. This should have always been an options for players and I’m pleased to see that Blizzard is beginning to recognize that they can make money off old material. For myself, until there’s a legion server I will remain un-subbed. I will not bother trying out Vanilla. I will not be adding to subscription numbers and Blizzard will continue to no longer make money from me.

I know that I am not special. I am not attempting to gain popularity or troll anyone. I have a good career and life beyond Azeroth. I play the game because I enjoy it, and not because I want it to be my source of income. I desperately want to spend what few hours I have on the weekend immersed in a gameplay experience that I actually enjoy.

I realize that I’m only 1 dwarf, who is small and insignificant. However, perhaps I’m 1 of many. So, for all the other small and insignificant outcast of the Blizzard Community, I’m once more requesting of Blizzard to please offer other Legacy Servers. Namely a Legion Server. Cheers!

Most certainly not.

I suspect that if Classic™ is successful, and the community requests it, Blizz may consider Classic™-type servers for other expansions.

First, they need to make sure Classic™ (Vanilla) is good.

The WoW player population gets smaller every year and I think adding more and more different types of servers will spread the population way too thin.

you wait 12 years like the rest of us

It could happen some day. But, I really doubt it will be any time soon.
If anything, they’d probably work their way there. Releasing TBC, WOTLK, Cata, MOP, WOD, then finally Legion servers.

If any “classic expacs” are going to be added first… it will be TBC or WOTLK by a massive landslide.

Lets see if classic can launch, survive and thrive before we start thinking about expacs.

If all that goes well I would expect retail to swerve back towards classic.

Yes It would be fun to have TBC and WOTLK re tuned and re introduced as alternate 50-60 leveling content with the raids as progression and maybe branch out from there or to have those expacs as alternative servers but fundamentally EXPACS are how we got to where we are today, each one introduced the seeds of Barf on Azeroth. Launching separate legacy servers for each also fragments the playerbase.

Even just having TBC and then WOTLK as alternate leveling content for 50-60 and new raid tiers would be problematic as all hell, some people will riot about belfs, DKs ETC, then there would be the double nax conundrum, then you have the “NO FLYING IN TBC OR WOTLK!!!” Then you have the power creep and What to do with arenas, And all of those things and probably a thousand others will have valid responses for and against.

Stick to the KISS principle
KEEP
IT
SIMPLE
STUPID (seriously no offense intended)

Lets see if this can be made to work THEN start thinking about the next 10 years.

This was a weird way to try to get youtube views

i didnt click on it , did you click on it

Why you linking vids man. I don’t know you.

Lets see how classic goes first and by goes you need at least 1+ years and even then the outcry for a BC or Wotlk will definitely out weigh a legion server.

Btw, real shaman gameplay is resto shaman gameplay

It would be the height of irony if someone were to post a wall of no for legion servers.

Lol, best post ever!

By the time classic servers come out I will have waited over 22 years to play Classic! Classic came out in 2006 you say! Well it still makes sense because…
…I was born to play Classic!

So I blizzard is still making legacy servers in 2031, I will play legion with you guys.

Edit: My bad, It came out in 2004.

Honestly i would love it if a couple of years after release they look at classic and start to wonder what they could justifiably bring in from other expansions. Wasnt kara, for example, originally planned for vanilla, but got pushed into TBC? Wouldnt it be nice if the ravenholdt manor quest line actually went somewhere? Maybe someone could look at azshara and fill it out a bit?
It doesnt have to be outside the scope of vanilla. But if kept in a world without northrend, cataclysm, pandaria, outland… theres scope for additions. The twilight cult could evolve a la cata. Perhaps hyjal with a more in keeping storyline could be developed.
Also and finally… maybe class/spec balance could be looked into.
Again, not immediately. But a year or two down the line. i’d like to see it evolve into its own extended universe timeline. No LFR/LFD, no flying, no massive changes to the environment, but new recipes, developed areas of azeroth, new raids, new dungeons. No expansion or anything, and no new level cap. But new things down the line taking it in its own unique direction.

Of all the expansions they made why would you pick Legion over say better expansions like The Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Litch King or Mists of Pandaria?

I understand that some people actually enjoyed Legion, but Warlords, Legion and Battle for Azuroth are so pruned down that they are not even really an MMORPG any more, its more a World of Diablo-Immortal craft where its designed specifically to be played on a tablet.

I know this to be true, because in Warlords the lead class developer was doing so; that’s how he was raiding.

go on! GIT! we don’t wont your kind round here. mhmm

The only classic I will play is vanilla every other one is garage.
