I mean you’re not wrong with that, and that was my initial thoughts about the situation as well. But I feel like we cannot deny the possibility of a coordinated attack if let’s say Group A hates Person B. Of course there’s still the mod stepping in and having to find real evidence of rule-breaking but the thought that people have the power to do something like that is a little jarring.
This is the same logic politicians use when trying to get anti-encryption and privacy policies instated.

It’s fundamentally bad for everyone that Blizzard lied about how a new player social system would work.
Claiming to not even remember something you felt compelled to chime in about isn’t really a good argument… I’m not sure if you thought that helped you or something? it does not.

contrary to what the conspiracy theorists want people to believe, all silences are manually applied.
…which means there’s sure to be a level of human error, but that’s what the appeal process is for.

Blizzard does not know they are asking to be reported. That happens outside of the game.
It is irrelevant if they ask for it or not.
But again, the system has been abused in rated battlegrounds.

Asmongold upon being silenced received an email from Blizzard clearly stating that his account has been silenced for 24 hours.
Provide your proof? I have video proof as well as a lot of document accounts on forums. You deny the video proof because you don’t like Asmongold.
Can you provide proof that all silences are manual?

That’s exactly how it works, as described by the blues in the CS forum. It’s a direct response to gold-selling spam. If something is reported enough times, it triggers a 24-hour chat squelch pending GM review.
If it doesn’t get reviewed within 24 hours, the squelch falls off and no black mark is noted on the account. If it is reviewed and the GM finds no chat violation, the squelch is removed and no black mark is noted on the account.
If the GM does find a chat violation, the squelch is removed and a silence applied. First offense is 24 hours, and it doubles each time with no upper limit.
Fifth offense is 384 hours (16 days). Tenth offense is 12 288 hours (512 days). It’s a hard milestone to reach, as by the time you’ve earned your tenth silence, you’ve been without the ability to chat for a cumulative total of nearly a year and a half.

and the reason i don’t like him, is because of the drama he caused with his stupid stunt… which has made a bunch of people believe his claims.

And I’m wasting GM time, time that could and should be spent helping players with real issues. By getting people to report me just to prove a point, or make a statement, I am abusing the system to the detriment of other players.

Why would a business not automate a report system? Manual investigation takes time and effort.
