The state of these servers is terrible. There are literal conga lines of hunter bots. Absolutely unplayable out in the open world. You can’t run for more than 30s without running into one. They are all identical. All nelfs with the same mount, same pet, and same gear. Does ANYONE at Blizzard plan on doing their job?
They make too much money off the Bot subscriptions. They need to keep the shareholders happy first. So they bank the Bot subs for awhile then do a small Banwave hitting prob less than 5% of the Bots to keep us players “happy”. I dropped my gathering profession on Anniversary because it was borderline useless.
this is neglect plain and simple… There are hundreds of bots in every high level zone
It’s sorta silly to think that people who play with illegal software and know that their account will be closed…would use real money to support their criminal activities.
Bots typically are using stolen/fake credit cards to “fund” their accounts.
In fact, it costs Blizzard a lot of money trying to fight this industry that is supported by players who are dumb enough to buy gold from them.
Blizzard loses money due to bots. They make nothing at all from them. That’s literally why they fight them.
Right-click and report any you see. They ban them by the thousands and, despite false info being spread on the forums, those reports actually help.
Good God you are such a shill.
That happens but there’s a near zero chance that’s what funds the majority of bots. There aren’t enough credit cards in the world for that and that also creates unnecessary risk for the botters. Why would they do something illegal when they can do it legally at a small business cost?
Also many of the gold sellers are the people running the guilds.
Serious question. How much does Blizzard pay you and how long ago did you lose your spine?
lol whatever… they could ban every hunter in high level zones and maybe tick off 1 legit player
Sure. So you really do believe that they pay with legit credit cards? Okie-dokie! You can name call if it makes you feel smarter. You’re not the first and won’t be the last to call someone a “shill” or to be wrong.
Enjoy your day.
They’re not doing anything illegal by botting. If you’re running a business with employees that pay taxes to your government why would you encourage your employees to do illegal things that could get your business shut down?
Come on bro. Use your brain.
It’s cute that you think they’re operating in a country that cares about such things.
And I’m the “shill”.
I mean… How many credit card numbers do you think there are? If they’re scamming millions of credit cards every year I’m surprised Visa hasn’t gone out of business. Forget about the cost to Blizzard. Imagine the cost to the credit card company.
That’s just not sustainable and it doesn’t seem at all realistic.
10^16 Possibilities total
631 million on America alone, roughly two for every american. Excluding debit cards.
I’m no expert but I’ve been told that other countries exist, I’d assume there’s credit cards there too.
For real report every bot you see. Report guilds selling gold in their MotD, report swipers, report AFKers.
I don’t think that’s correct. If I’m not mistaken the first 4 or 8 digits tell you what type of credit card it is.
But still, I’d imagine the cost to the credit card companies would be enough to get these businesses shut down.
How can there possibly be bots? Zaalg and Ripsod sit here all day on the forums telling us that nobody buys gold, only a handful of players do… and the cancelling of GDKPs has killed all the bots and all the RMT happening.
This statement hasnt been accurate in the last decade and change. Definitely not “fake” ones. Thats essentially impossible to pull off statistically, never mind produce literally thousands of them.
Its far easier, and cheaper, to simply use international funds and bot gold for USD.
You can buy months of subscriptions using perfectly legal international funds that are 1/5 the price of USD game time and bot with.
That small $ fee can be made up in about a day of botting, sometimes faster depending on the product / boosting methods.
Also credit card security is far more impressive than it was 15 years ago when your statement was true… Why they simply allow us to just “tap” your card to a reader… and trust the payment is secure.
lol credit card numbers with the correct CVV and pin are cracked before they are even delivered after being issued. Literally takes 6s on average.
Credit cards need to be activated before being used…
and you need zip codes + other information to match.
Why do you think Blizzard did all that work on international funded subscriptions a few years ago? There is a direct correlation dummy.
Yeah I mean if they’re so good at cracking credit cards why are they wasting their time botting? Like… Just go buy stuff. Go to an ATM. Sell your cracked card on the black market. There are a probably a million more profitable things to do than crack a card and then use it on a WoW account.
LOL Exactly.
Its so much cheaper, easier, and draws 100000x less attention to just have international bank accounts that buy subs legitimately and earn the money back selling the gold.
These bots are up for 3-6 months before they get banned, yet make their $$ back in a week tops.
SO if they are operating for 15-20 weeks of full profit… the $$ invested is pennies… no point in “stealing” that in the first place.
Worth noting that I do this and sometimes action is taken and sometimes it isn’t. There are some very obvious bots on the server I play on, feel free to roll a character on Grobbulus (Era) and come see for yourself.
I don’t wish to get involved in the discussion about whether or not Blizzard cares about bots at this time; however, the right-click report status quo is just not working.
if you use a legit card and bot, AND get caught the account and credit card is flagged. its not illegal to BOT but its against TOS. so no way legit cards are being used to bot.
