Moratorium on Multi-Boxers in SL

I do get really upset when I go into an area to finish a quest or hunt a certain mob and have to work around these boomkin farmers/bots/multiboxers. I report them when I see them, but the thing is: I shouldn’t have to. It ruins the gameplay experience in multiple ways for many people in all parts of the in-game world. Blizzard has the tools to discourage them or ban them, and it’s time that they take some steps to do so.

Attitude toward P2W in general has shifted dramatically in the past 5-10 years. Anything even vaguely resembling the shadow of P2W would’ve been stomped out before it was even proposed back between Vanilla and WoD, but these days it’s apparently ok as long as it’s facilitated by Blizz, which is dangerous to say the least.

It’s disappointing. The game should be a relatively even playing field mostly free of influence from players’ RL financial situations, and I say this as someone with plenty of spare income and an uncertain schedule (the exact type of person who’d be most interested in anything P2W). If you want something earn it, if it’s unreasonable to earn take it up with Blizz.

Those are bots and you should rightly report them. I see them too.

They probably do, but as of now Blizzard is fine with the multiboxing community.

but you can buy more accounts and game time with gold, what’s stopping you from multiboxing?

Because I don’t find it enjoyable and consider it a flagrant waste of money, and I don’t think I’m alone in that opinion. It’s niche appeal and not the kind of thing that should be made into a norm.

absolutely nothing. Clearly complaining about OTHERS being able to do it is preferrable

You’re free to multibox, what I’m not cool with is the game getting twisted to where players who play normally are at a disadvantage much like intentionally limiting oneself to gear two tiers behind.

WoW used to be like that, there have been multiboxers from Vanilla onward, but it was kind of an eccentric thing to do and the benefit to be had from doing it was considerably more limited.

Nothing can be done about that :frowning:

A waste of gold I assume you mean and I guess that’s a matter of opinion :+1:

New week…
New thread on Boxxer’s.

I saw a post saying there should be a cap on how many characters a Boxxer can have. Isn’t there one now?
Didn’t Prepared have 60 at one time and it was dropped to 25 only?

so like I said…you all see the car lot. you can go buy the car…but you CHOOSE to take the bus and then complain that someone else decides they want the car.
Its honestly no wonder bliz takes no action on this issue.

ok…and the boxing statement page was just recently updated. It still reflects that boxing is allowed. Im pretty sure bliz knows how many accounts we’re all running…they can see payment method and half a dozen other indentifying items, no doubt…so they know how many boxers they have…and yet theyve chosen to still allow it.

So Im not sure Im going to put anything behind folks on the internet who dont have this information as to what they think or want as far as boxing goes.
I rarely stick up for this company…but this is one of those issues i do.
And please dont waste time accusing me of being a dirty boxer because I agree with them… I dont box.

To my knowledge no, if you want to run 1000 characters you can. The limit is 8 wow licenses per bnet so in my example a person would need 125 Bnet accounts to 1000 box lol

Prepared on Classic is running 117 last I heard. But the guy owns a mining company and can afford the cost. Not my place to judge someone use of their money.

Ahh ok.

Maybe it was something I read where it was suggested and thought they implemented it.

Thanks

Cryptocurrency mining or some real life natural good mining?

I think Uranium or Silver. Last I saw of his rig, it was like 6-8 machines tied to a wall of monitors and he had like 4 keyboards in front of him. He had a custom built frame work to facilitate it. I think he said he had an OC3 line into his house.

As I mentioned, my schedule is uncertain, so I’m probably not going to be able to sink in the time required to grind the gold to fuel a multibox team, so at least initially there’d have to be an RL cash investment in tokens. There’s also all those xpacs…

Absolutely, which is why nobody should feel like they need to multibox to enjoy the game.

I’m not sure the analogy holds. Playing as a single character is what the game is designed for. It’s not the cheap, oddball, or edge case thing to do. Playing as a single character is buying a car and multiboxing is buying multiple cars and driving them all with a single driver.

Multiboxing can be a legitimate form of play without it being the baseline/norm.

Dang lol

I’m lucky to make 1 character do what it’s supposed to do, let alone 117.
I saw him on Youtube once when he had 60+. I have to say I was fascinated.

Well isn’t that just your opinion?

Yep, but that goes both ways.

Now that I think about it, I wouldn’t suggest to start multiboxing if your desire is gold. There’s better ways to make gold and you should multibox because that’s what you want to do.

I don’t need to multibox to enjoy the game but I do need multiple accounts since the reason I started multiboxing was to go above the 50 cap
