MoP player behavior feels like retail

Who wants to spend a long time in a dungeon while leveling?

Do you also enjoy long lines at the DMV?

I’ve done about 100 dungeon runs on my monk and I’ve only seen one person be booted, and that was well and truly deserved.

I fall behind all the time in dungeons waiting for the quest giver to phase in, and nobody has said anything yet.

I remember doing a heroic BRC not too long ago, and this guy was a freshly boosted 85 monk tank and didn’t know the fights and never said anything. We were patient with him though and told him what to do, and he eventually got mechanics down.

Some pugs are pretty patient, depending on the situation. But leveling dungeons, you definitely want to follow the cardinal rules:

  1. Don’t say anything (if you want say hello at the start, do it at your own risk)
  2. Follow the group, no matter if they’re going in the wrong direction.
  3. Don’t be one of those people that needs on EVERY single thing, that’s also a fast way to get booted.
  4. If you don’t know something or want to do something, just ask. If you get kicked so be it, but just doing stuff blindly and being willfully ignorant is a one way ticket to Kicksville.

Well MOP is retail so I am nit sure what the issue is?

Welcome to Classic.

I’ve been there, bro. Modern US wow is very toxic. It wasn’t like this even 5 years ago. Going to lfg is like visiting a zoo. I’ll tell you a secret. Many of those kicks are coming from premades. Yep, people on purpose make a group of 3 to troll random players like yourself by kicking them out of the group.
So it is what it is.
But you have 2 options to deal with the problem:

  1. Don’t go to LFG alone, use chat to find 2 more people to make your own premade and become kick protected. Being in a nice guild makes it even easier.
  2. Play on EU realms. The latency is not so bad and not crucial for pve content at all (usually around 150). People there are more relaxed, respectful and more “playing a game, not a sport” minded. Just avoid queueing on weekends.

Mostly the result of tanks starting to be immortal so they dont need to wait and of the queue system letting you replace players quickly. People in any content will try to be efficient. Trying to speed clear isnt new and with players now being better than in the past somewhat inevitable if they can.

By the time mop came out back in the day this is how the playerbase was.

That’s good point. I was playing healer and the group didn’t need heal.

It seems Blizzard buffed tanks to be immortal in the hope that more players would play tanks but the unintended consequence was tanks spearheading and no mage/rogue cc was ever needed, while groups still lack tanks.

I’ve heard this kind of conspiracy theory in the forums before and wonder why it has never happened to me when doing hundreds of solo queued dungeons across multiple versions of the game. :man_shrugging:

There are toxic people, but 90% of people you encounter in random dungeons never speak to you and display at least basic common courtesy in random groups of strangers.

Since I’ve been leveling my monk that’s now 85 and can queue for twilight dungeons, the only things people usually say are thanks if they die and someone resses them. The only person who was rude was in a RFD when I was leveling because they were mad that someone started the escort before they had the quest.

Why would anyone expect a game from 15 years ago to be the same experience??? Change happens. Sounds like the world around you has grown up and you haven’t.

Get used to it, with things like caving to elitists on LFR, Blizzard has shown that elitist attitudes are going to be the driving force shaping Classic from here on. Wait until you get Mythic+ in 3ish years

Sounds like they’re finally doing the right things.

That’s true in vanilla, because there’s no LFD, and hence friction to replace people.

LFD enables people to be a lot more kick happy, by making backfilling easy and painless.

Don’t worry the community will get better once War Within Season 3 launches and all adhd kids swim back into in Mythic+

Sorry you have to deal with the toxicity, hope your experience will be better

By the way majority of these comments are from one person.

I love these posts that show the victim mentality of the OP. I have been kicked from groups for really stupid reasons. I have protected people from getting kicked for negligible things that can be fixed through discussion. I have always told groups, I will start the vote if i feel the issue can’t be rectified. The one thing I have never done is go to the forums to start a pity party. Peoples time is important to them. If they feel like you are wasting it, they will reciprocate. Find a guild of people that share your values and forego LFG until you can perform to an acceptable standard.

To be honest, classic died after TBC. Wrath brought the sweatiest and then cata brought the classic sweatiest and the retail boys who got bored of getting KSM in retail week 1.

You know whats worse, complaining about a guy whose just venting
 FROM AN ALT ACCOUNT.

This sounds like you where AFK and expecting to be hard carried for free and the group didn’t like that, so they used the vote to kick system to kick you which was 100% justified.
Then to make it worse you where the healer?

Yeah your gone! But hey are you ready for the kicker?

YOU CAN BE KICKED FOR ANY AND OR NO REASON AT ALL!! 3/5 SAY YES YOUR GONE!

Wrong. In RDF, premade groups of 2 or 3 only count as one vote toward a kick. They cannot kick on their own.

Let’s break it down:

  • :busts_in_silhouette: A 3-player premade needs one other player to agree to kick
  • :busts_in_silhouette: A 2-player premade + 1 solo player still needs at least one more yes
  • :handshake: Two premades matched together? Deadlock no kick happens without cross-premade agreement

So the idea that “premades are just trolling people at will” doesn’t hold. The system requires consensus, and Blizzard built it that way specifically to prevent abuse.

If someone gets kicked? It’s because at least one non-premade player agreed they weren’t pulling their weight.
