Fun for about 2 weeks till everyone just insta rolls the most op comps and blizzard doesn’t balance anything.
Toss in weakauras and the game dies.

every classic expansion with arena has been bad, I remember it clearly:
TBC comes out
TBC players: “Ehhh TBC arena isn’t that great… Wrath is where it’s at”
Wrath comes out
Wrath players: “Ehh wrath arena isn’t that great, Cata is where it really becomes fun and more stuff is viable!!!”
Here we are now —-> Cata players: “Eh Cata arena isn’t that great, can’t wait for MoP classic!!!”
Every single expansion has arena population even more dead than LFG retail, the remaining select few (usually people who just mained private servers) just abusing the most broken comps only and sticking together, very little chances to find quality partners to push any meaningful rating

MoP was great.
I’d say that each system is better than the last as far improving upon arena, class viability, etc. same goes with MoP. WoD might be the first step backwards before templates destroy the game for a decade.
but i agree with your general sentiment that its dead and ultra sweaty. Classic as a whole just has way less players over time, plus retail is peak pvp design atm. as much as i loved MoP and see it as an S tier pvp expansion, i just see no reason to play it over retail.

Good thing there wasn’t 1 comp to rule them all. Every single spec had a top tier comp and every comp had a counter

To be fair , from a mechanics and balance stand point outside very few outliers like the stampede bug - Mop/Wod/Legion were the apex of 3v3 combat
Probably will have an obnoxious amount of lock shaman + you assuming that they start with last patch balance and last patch gearing system, which was massively different from first patch.
Makes me miss turbocleave, lock shaman druid, Maybe ill actually play it. Mop is so many good memories but the people i played with back then all long gone
