I had my name deliberately stolen from me, with proof of the person who did it with malicious intent. I opened a ticket about it and the GM said the person who took that name had that name made long ago. That is impossible because: I know the person who did it, they’ve admitted to it, and they also left plenty of evidence like classic-armory website listings and even maliciously joined my guild with the new name. They then paid for another name change back to their original name, but the name is still locked for me, so they may have had an accomplice take the name again. Either way I’m really frustrated. I can provide screenshot evidence of all this. This person maliciously sniped my name, yet Blizzard said they would take action against those who maliciously do this, and yet here is the most obvious and clear case, with me EVEN KNOWING THE PERSON WHO DID IT AND TELLING BLIZZARD WHO DID IT, and they STILL aren’t doing anything. What a joke of a company. If this doesn’t get fixed I’m quitting. I put in a ticket, had to wait 48 hours only for them to give this terrible response saying:
Blizzard Iwewuala
Greetings,
I am Game Master Iwewuala and I’m here to answer your ticket.
I understand the struggle you are facing right now. However, as previous GMs told you, the case was investigated and there was not malicious intent found in the names taken. Proved of that is that the characters who has that name in the new server were created with that name long time ago.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
Best regards. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ"
This person CLEARLY didn’t look at my ticket at ALL nor investigate it. I waited 48 hours for that response. This is so frustrating and allowing griefers to win because Blizzard didn’t have the foresight to not allow paid name changes at first.
If the name was on a max level character, a name change will still leave it locked to their account for 90 days. To unlock they would need to create a new character with that name and delete it.
It was not a max level character. And they have since changed the name back to their original alt’s name the moment new character creation became available (it was locked as the only people on the server were server transfers), and then CREATED A NEW CHARACTER NOW WITH MY MAIN’S NAME ONCE AGAIN. So I still cannot use my name.
Well I hope you explained it better in your ticket than you explained in this post, because it’s really hard to understand what you’re saying. Are you saying you were on a server like Bene and transferred to the mega-realm, only to find out someone had already created a character on the mega-realm with your character name? Or that someone you know transferred an alt to that realm and paid for a name change to your main’s name? And then paid again to go back?
If someone paid actual money for that name, asking Blizzard to release the name isn’t going to work. They paid for it. It’s theirs. They’re especially not going to do it if you got your story wrong and the ‘alt’ you claim stole your name actually had that name for a long time, which is what they’re telling you. That’s an easy thing for Blizzard to check. It’s also easy for Blizzard to check in-game chat logs (you claim they admitted it). Not sure what more you expect Blizz to do when your story is so weird. You say it’s impossible they made that name long ago, list a bunch of reasons, suspiciously none of which is ‘they can’t have had that name for a long time because I HAD THAT NAME’. I mean, c’mon. At least tell the story straight.
I thought I made that clear. THEY CAN’T HAVE THAT NAME BECAUSE I HAD THAT NAME… FOR ALMOST 4 YEARS.
They transferred an alt on Tuesday, the day server transfers opened to the locked mega realm, nazgrim. They then paid for a name change on that new fresh server on that Tuesday to take my mains name from the server we transferred from (they never had that name or anything close to it, they were also in my guild for the entirety of that time, we know each other and it is not on good terms).
After he paid for the name change on the new server, he did another one to change it back briefly, but then used a different character to take the name (he did this on a separate account in order to conceal he had taken the name, at least initially). Then oncenthr servers unlocked and allowed for new character creation on nazgrim, he then took the name again but this time on a new character.
At no point was I allowed to take that name, again the name I had while in the same guild for almost the last 4 years with him, as I tried constantly, checking every day and especially when the server unlocked I was doing it the moment it opened.
He then joined our guild, with my name, in order to antagonize me.
