MOP Classic

Would you play MoP classic? I always see people rating it highly. Now that cata classic is coming, I think MoP classic is definitely on the table. There are most of the QOL features (aoe looting, easy to swap talents, flight for gold at max level) that people seem to care about. PvPers rate MOP especially highly it seems, so perhaps the pvp was good but I wouldn’t be one to know about that. There are heirlooms and the leveling is faster.

If you wouldn’t play MoP classic exactly as it was, but are open to alternate WoW experiences, what could get you to play it? What if there were funservers with really high xp/rep/drop rates like 50x and no level cap? What if there were instant level 90 or 85 servers so you could skip the other expansions or re-leveling entirely? What about a progressive leveling-focused server where the xp rate doubles for every character you have at max level on that realm? Would you be interested in a version where raids scaled anywhere from 1-30 players and dungeons anywhere from 1-5 players with the NPC teammates blizz is now doing?

P.S blizz keep some servers in every expansion you do as classic please, #WrathEra

Frankly I’m looking forward to cata classic as a curiousity, but moreso looking forward to mop classic afterwards as it sounded great for class experience.

Especially as someone who has thoroughly come around on meta for warlock. Meta caster tanking in SoD has been suh-weet

I’m way more interested in SoD.

By the time MoP classic would come out one of two scenarios will have occurred. SoD will be the biggest classic platform and I wouldn’t care to play any other form of classic, or SoD will burn out and then I’ll probably be done with the whole classic thing.

I might try Cata but to be honest I’m not really excited for it. It just depends on how bored I am that week.
I loved MoP. Which is why I played it until I got sick of it back when it was current.

There are some (IMO) interesting questions here: How far is Classic going to go? At what point would it become too ‘modern’ to be labeled as Classic anymore? Will the release of ‘new’ expansions eventually slow down so that the gap between retail and Classic remains approximately the same size? What even is the niche for Classic from Blizzard’s perspective? I haven’t really played it myself, aside from the DK promotion to get the mount in retail. Can one still go back and play vanilla or BC Classic servers or are Wrath/SoD the only options now?

No.

I still have horror stories about the dailies.

I’ll play it if I have the time for 2 reasons: experience the story in full (looking at you MoP legendary cloak questline- oh wait, I can’t because Blizz removed you), and to experience the first iterations of monks, especially the stances I’ve heard of. I don’t know what Crane Stance entails, but I want to learn first hand.

It was a nice expansion, but I can’t see myself playing any classic version.

MoP is 10x better than Cata, so in that sense yeah. But I have a feeling Cata Classic will die out after Firelands, if it even makes it that far. Are people really itching to run Dragon Soul in progression a second time?? Everything Cata changed is still in the game. The entire concept of Cata Classic makes no sense other than we are just running every expansion back in order. But I would play MoP Classic just to get the Black Harvest title. But then again, what would I do with it on a set of servers that may or may not keep going??

Mists was an expansion I wasn’t especially hyped about, but I wound up loving it. Mechanically the game was in it’s best place ever, and the beauty of the non-bug places was breathtaking.

I frankly don’t even think Legion or Dragonflight can touch Mists. It’s neck and neck with Wrath for me now as my top choice, and Wrath is only there because of the people I was playing with, not the actual gameplay. I would absolutely play the crap out of a Destro Warlock in Mists Classic. But, again, is “Classic” now just a re-run of the entire WoW timeline?? If they are doing Cata, it sure seems that way.

I would love it, it was by far my favorite xpac the way the classes played, pvp and pvp gearing.

The other ideas about alternative WoW experiences sound like a lot of fun, but I’d be afraid they would probably be fun at first then abandoned later.

What would you play or which one(s) sound fun to you Rita?

Not only would I play MoP Classic, I’d have a problem: What do I play first? Do I play Demo with Dark Apotheosis? Do I play BDK with the INSANE MILLIONS OF HEALTH BLOOD BUBBLES? Symbiosis Druid?? Combat rogue?

Truth be told, I’d probably spend a huge chunk of time just playing Monk.

I’d play anything if you’d play with me. :dracthyr_love_animated:

My guess is that they will make a classic version of each expansion eventually.

They should imo. That way folks could play the expansions they loved most as they were before nerfs, squishes, etc.

this aspect broke my guild.

we raided TBC, Wotlk, lightly in cata. we were a bunch of altaholics. "who wants to bring what tonight?’ and we could fill most any configuration with tanks, heals, dps with what anyone wanted to bring. a bunch of serious casuals.

it is my recollection that dailies were initially a way to spend down time and make a little coin.

in MoP, they became mandatory part time jobs. there was just no way to do 2-3 hours a day on each toon to earn rep to get gear on more than one toon. or even on toon.

it was shame, because I liked the feel, the lore, the shas, the story telling.
