[Mop Classic] - cannot link items in chat or whispers

Item links in chat no longer work. If you try to send a whisper that has a link in it, the entire whisper just fails with nothing happening.

The item linking issues are known, though I wasn’t able to reproduce the whisper poofing when I poked at that just now.

Every time I try to whisper a link to a guildie, it just fails. No error, no whisper sent, nothing at all. (Pagle server if it matters)

Is it every time, or every time with links?

Without a link, no issues. Link = dead whisper, even if there’s text with it.

Okay weird. I’m on a different character now (belf alt) and I just tried to whisper a link to a bnet friend and that worked. (the text went through but no link) Oh wait. that bnet friend is not in the game now so the whisper went to an external client.

Swapped back to my hunter and tested w a guildie and now it is sending the whisper… but the link is not working, it’s just text. Okay. That is weird. Seems the dead whisper problem is either intermittent or it’s gone away.

I just tried it on a live server and I’m not reproducing the issue, so it’s possible that an addon that’s expecting the link is causing it to fizzle, assuming that you have any of course. Can you try disabling any addons and see if you still have the issue?

I just tried to whisper a link to a caged battle pet and that caused it to happen again. Dead whisper. Try whisper linking a caged battle pet. An ordinary item resulted in the whisper sending with unclickable text (no link) but the whisper worked. Trying to do a “hey do you need a (battle pet)” whisper results in a totally dead whisper with nothing being sent.

I just tried to send “testing” + a caged battle pet link in guild chat and that, too, resulted in a completely dead result. Nothing appeared in g chat at all.

also, tried say, yell, and party chat. If there’s a battle pet link being attempted, it just dies.
