MoonSong Forest

I think in this story the Highborne did something magnificent to the land (Moonsong Forest - Crystalsong Forest)

“ Under Queen Azshara’s tutelage, the edges of the kaldorei empire extended as far north as modern-day Borean Tundra, Dragonblight, Crystalsong Forest, and perhaps even parts of Zul’drak, Howling Fjord, and Grizzly Hills .

Out of all of the northern regions, only Crystalsong Forest still bears the most obvious marks of the ancient empire. Once known as Moonsong Forest, the icy woodland was settled by an elven expeditionary force as part of Azshara’s mission to expand the empire’s borders.

It was not until approximately 4,000 years after the Sundering that Moonsong Forest and its inhabitants were inadvertently crystallized in a conflict between the blue dragonflight and local Highborne, an event that would eventually give the land its current name.”

I have a question about the Great Tree there . It’s a potential World Tree ? Maybe Tyrande could use the seed to enchant the Tree ?
What do you think?

Crystalsong is such a gorgeous zone, I always wanted more story out of it than what they offered. It’s never really been mentioned or alluded to that the tree there is a World Tree though, so I think it’s just a really large tree in general.

IIRC the Highborne there transformed the forest via artifacts stolen from the Blue Dragonflight in an attempt to draw magic from them after the Well of Eternity was destroyed but the process both killed them and turned a majority of the forest into what it looks like now. I don’t recall anything in the lore that points to Druidic influence like World Trees etc.

Tyrande is also still pretty anti-Highborne (As seen with her treatment of the Shaldorei) only somewhat tolerating new NE magi, so I’m not sure that she’d want arcane influence to be part of the new World Tree but who knows? With the near destruction of the Legion, there’s no reason that they should still continue to eschew the Arcane.

It is a World Tree. Chronicles confirmed it.

Interesting, I must’ve missed that part. I saw mention of it being a ‘Great Tree’ in the RPG but that’s not entirely canon. What page is that on? (I’m not trying to fact check you, I’m genuinely curious.)

Page 124. The tree does not have a name. The only named tree was Andrassil/Vordrassil.

I was thinking the same … but found only „Great Tree“ …
Tyrande could enchant this tree … with the new seed ?
The scourge can’t enter in Crystalsong …

Wish I could see somewhere MoonSong before the crystallisation…

There is the Dragonflight Expansion’s Bronze Dragon place so let’s hope the Bronze Dragons take us to each of the areas in Azeroth in their most prime as Dragonflight’s form of Torghast or Island Expeditions.

I would love to see Moonsong, Ancient Pandaria ruled by the Pandaren Emperors complete with the Pandaren Palace itself as shown in the Burdens of Shaohao, Ancient Dojani Empire ruled by the Mogu in Krasarang Wilds, Mogu Emperor Tsao’s Empire in the Jade Forest, Eldre’Thalas, Zin’Azshari, Lordaeron’s Capital City in it’s prime, Alterac in it’s prime, Dalaran in it’s prime, Brightwood, Karazhan in it’s prime, Northern Ashenvale, etc.

That tree is in Grizzly Hills. The Crown of the World, it was in Grizzly Hills. They had to cut it down because of yogg-Saron’s corruption.

I need to correct myself.

Apperently the tree in Crystalsong is called is a “great tree” not neccesarily a world tree. Although all of them were from Nodrassil. Basically it is is one step below from actual world tree status.

There was a world tree in Grizzly Hills called Vordrassil. It was chopped down to stave off the Nightmare of Yogg-Saron.

You can still visit it it’s furbolg home now but you meet Ursok there in Legion on the Guardian Druid artifact questchain, that’s where he’s corrupted and turned by Xavuis.

If it was a world tree, which I doubt, it’s another dead one. Crystallisation killed the flora in question.

The Night Elves really have an awful track record with World Trees. Maybe the world is trying to give them a hint?
