My server has become more of a facebook political debate thread than an actual roleplaying server tbh. Goldshire still going strong as ever though.

One time I joined a Gulnieas RP group to see what RP was all about…it was basically WoW speeddating.
I love moonguard.
specifically goldshire.
and by love I mean I roll around laughing every once in awhile when I go check in to see what kind of degeneracy is going on there.
at this point I’m convinced that like 90% of the people in goldshire are only there for the “goldshire is terrible” memes.

Any kind of RP Listing that sounds overly generic is something to avoid.
“High School RP”
“Gilneas RP”
“Family RP”
even “Military RP” occasionally.
I assume “Cat Clan RP” is the same but I never stepped foot in that.
These types of groups have always been a thing on Moon Guard, mostly in Elwynn Forest with the exception of the Gilneas stuff that picked up during the Cata prepatch and afterward.
In addition to a generally horrid quality of roleplay, every single one of these types of events are just excuses for people to find people to ERP with outside of Goldshire. Every single one. You might find individuals there who aren’t taking part, but being realistic, most people are.
When the Premade Group Finder came along, that’s basically the sort of stuff that got posted there. It’s low quality ERP-bait. You can pretty much ignore Group Finder RP entirely.
Maybe worth noting, is that RP in WoW tends to be a bit more cohesive than those short-term listings? Like, you’re playing a character. That character doesn’t randomly change every session. You’re building a story. As opposed to those events where it’s essentially “okay here’s your options pick a role, 3, 2, 1, go”.

It’s only contained if you leave public chat channels entirely.
It’s not AS bad outside of Goldshire, and hell, it’s not even as bad outside of Goldshire as it was ~3 years ago, but it’s absolutely still a part of the realm’s culture. Telling people otherwise is misleading.
It can be a great place despite that. Even before I actually geared a character up here, I’d tell people it’s one of the only places left in WoW with an actual community feeling based on my experiences here during a few months where I wasn’t playing on my main account. But you have to be willing to deal with the culture. If you can’t, it won’t be a good realm choice. If you opt out of chat instead, then you miss out on a lot of what makes it a good realm.
Because the “Hurr Durr Goldshire” joke has gotten old.
It’s not even Moonguard players in there, just tourists.

High school RP is a new one for me. How do you even do that in WoW?
This. SO much this. I rerolled on MoonGuard specifically because the community and small town feel of my old server completely disappeared when they merged it with a bunch of other ones. Call me crazy, but I actually enjoy talking to and interacting with people in trade chat and out in the world. That simply doesn’t happen anymore on A LOT of servers and it’s a big part of the reason why a lot of people are interested in Classic. That sense of community is what makes playing an MMO fun and why I started playing in the first place.
erm, I can’t say anything, but the server has too many stories to read on players books. lol And for Gold Shire, when are they gonna beware of the children roaming in the game? This server should put on adult only.
