Are other realms seeing this crazy Suramar lag as well? Or is it just us?
If I fly from Dalaran to Meredar, the gryphon arrives to the flight master and just stays there until eventually I’m logged out lol. Additionally if you manually fly there, you hit the lag wall. But if you fly into Azsuna or Val’Sharah, you’re good again. It’s just something with the zone that’s messed up. B

Something is indeed MAJORLY broken with Suramar, and has been since remix started. I’m usually not one to complain about lag, and I leveled through Azsuna day 1 of remix and dealt with it… but this is actually unplayable. We’re talking 20-30 seconds of lag between actions.

this needs more attention, it’s not just lag - it’s completely unplayable

Even just accidentally passing through it while trying to fly elsewhere can lock you up for a while lol

Probably prudent to just restart the computer. Odds are whatever instance you got locked into is experiencing some lag issues. I knew that when it came to remix, I didn’t want to do anything on my high or full population realms. That’s why I picked a low to medium.
I don’t think this is a sporadic case with Moon Guard. Like every time I’ve logged in, it’s fairly consistent that Suramar is broken - latency, not fps. Every other zone is fine, the Bazaar is fine, etc.
The only time Suramar was playable was shortly after realms came up a couple of days ago.
Additionally, say you’re in Aszuna or Val’Sharah and you fly to the edges of those zones bordering Suramar but don’t quite enter Suramar, you get hit with the “lag wall”. It’s as if whatever is hosting Suramar and the zone transitions into it is constantly pegged at using 100% resources

Chiming in on this, because it’s become inexcusable— fix this, devs. It’s been a week. There have been multiple threads now. We cannot play in a whole major zone right now.

I spent the whole day yesterday questing in Suramar with a friend and my partner. Neither of the ladies, nor myself had lag issues. We all have characters on low/med pop realms. It’s not just MG, but other large servers like Proudmoore, Area-52, Sargeras, etc. The higher the pop, and the more “phasing” that happens, the bigger the struggle for the load balancer on the server.
This guy fixed my problem, Moon Guard! The entire server needs to just restart their computers!
Suramar has been completely lagged since Remix began, and has been 100% unplayable. The suggestions to: “Just play on a different server” is a disingenuous thing to say here, since the game is LITERALLY unplayable in a specific zone for people who play on a specific server. It’s unacceptable, and people need to stop giving Blizzard a pass when there are multitudes of people saying they’re having a problem.

If you pass through its almost as if you need to relog once your out to shake it all off.
this is bonkers.
Heroic mode is worse.

Yeah it’s so bad on Heroic mode. It’s not normal high pop latency, that at least would fluctuate throughout the day, it’s literally broken. Blizz pls.

I am glad that my suggestion worked. A lot of times when it comes to a very laggy server it just requires restarting the computer and then logging back in. Sometimes if you just log out and log back in, it will put you back into the same shard that you were in previously. However, restarting the entire system and logging back in, can’t assign you to a brand new shard where there’s fewer people and less lag. So I’m glad it helped. High and full population servers can be tricky to negotiate, especially during special events.

They are just recreating the Legion experience. The lag in Suramar was just this insane.

Moon Guard does not shard, not normally, and not with Lemix. The responder was being sarcastic, no, turning your PC on and off again is not going to help with Suramar Heroic World Mode.
The zone is a server deadzone atm, just touching the edge of the zone is enough to desync the client for minutes at a time. You can walk out of the zone (cause skyriding abilities won’t work anymore) and game won’t register the zone change, no mobs spawning, nothing.
I have never seen any single area of the serve be this bad, not even Stormwind during last year’s Halloween event, before Blizzard started to temporarily shared Stormwind.

They can’t easily fix this. It’s caused by the many hyperspawns in the zone people are exploiting
Moon guard doesn’t phase like other servers, so its even more cooked
This was an issue in legion too
I don’t believe they were being sarcastic. I reread their response and it seemed genuine. While moon guard does not split in the standard fashion because it does not share space with any other servers, it is layered differently. The problem is moon guard by itself is already full and has a bit of regular lag in retail. I know this because I have a character on that server. But then when you add another layer of normal remix and then another layer of heroic remix, you are now getting a triple stack of moon guard instead of a single stack. It was already a very popular and full server. Now multiply that times three. I appreciate the response, but I am fairly confident in my original answer and my temporary solution to assist the other person.

I was questing there a few days ago and it was fine, but I tried doing a WQ there yesterday and literally couldn’t move at all. I tried hearthing and it took like 10 minutes to work. Even just flying into the zone at all hits you with a lag wave, it’s crazy.
They’re going to have to address it by the 21st when the Suramar campaign becomes a full thing. Otherwise, they’re going to have another case of Week 1 where everything is broken and they’re scrambling to fix it while it’s live.
If they leave Suramar broken and unplayable because of lag past the 21st without fixing it, then there’s no point to doing Remix anymore past that IMO.
No they were definitely being sarcastic because thinking restarting your PC is going to solve the world lag issues with a specific zone in a game is laughable to put it mildly. I appreciate you trying to help people out, but it’s less a “fix” and more of a “workaround” that is the same as just alt-f4 and relaunching the game to help get you out of the lag loop.

Well, then, I will meet you in the middle with it resolved the issue temporarily. I’m not on a public form to argue with others who seem to enjoy arguing. I was simply being helpful, which is what gamers should do for one another. I fully admit there’s a larger issue at hand and blizzard needs to resolve it, but if we as gamers can find workarounds for fellow gamers, that’s all that really matters in the moment.
