the move that disengages and sends a heavy and long range lunarbeam is the most broken and stupidest thing you have added yet blizzard, how did you manage to add something more broken than the fire tornado at launch? Stop adding abilities and balance the game first.
you have ample time to move
It doesn’t matter if you have time to move. The range of the ability is so stupidly and ridiculously far, you can’t tell when somebody is casting it.
the range only increases if they hold it down for like 2-3 seconds like an evoker ability, u have ample time to move and counter it
It’s more that you consistently get hit by people you aren’t even aware of because the range is SO far.
Is it just me, or does it not hit that hard, though?
I feel like I’ll be going about my business, see the flash around me, and it’s negligible.
It hits as hard as the other maximum damage abiltiies.
Wait you can’t tell they are casting when they start to float?
You can’t tell they’re casting it because you can’t even see them.
It will doesn’t do that much damage, and if it does to you, then you’re severely under level compared to the person who casted the ability, in which case that’s really the least of your issues.
At rank 3 level 10 it does about 50, which is in the upper bounds of damaging abilities. More than a shield connection + AoE for example, but less than a lava axe.
It’s a lot more than just poke.
Don’t think its an issue, but how would you change it?, reduce range? just basically makes it mana orb.
I think in the last 30 games I’ve been in the final ring, at least 2 of us have had moonbeam, if not all 3. It’s completely dethroned slicing + melee builds.
Mana orb and moonbeam are already differentiated by their travel time, reducing the range wouldn’t even change its effectiveness late game as the thing is already more than the size of the map.
Out of 30 games being at the end, I think I’ve used it once, its all about flavour.
I’m on a 5 win streak having used it every game. And it’s presence in the meta has significantly devalued every melee build because people are too scared to get cleaved by poke. The combination of high near unavoidable burst damage in short to medium range (Due to the low travel time) and ludicrous farm / chase potential in the early / mid game due to its maximum range make it easily one of the strongest abilities.
Not to mention leap windstorm moonbeam + shield or axe being near enough lights out if they land the leap.
So again the changes that you would like would be damage reduction or range, they would likely do a tuning pass half way through this event like last time.
Either Damage, range, or something more nuanced like damage dropoff based on range.
On the topic of changes I’d also just remove fire whirl. It’s been nerfed into irrelevance it’s only purpose is steamrolling someone in the first minute, after that it’s just fodder for bulwark. It’s bad and making it better makes the game worse, so I’d just replace or remove it.
Also that 3 attack ability, terrible.
It has it’s place, it’s very good burst damage early on but it falls off hard towards the mid game due to its painfully long cd. You could probably reduce the cd by 2-4 seconds and it’d be completely fine.
