Monk weapons - stat sticks or actual weapons?

So I can’t help but notice that my dps monk uses his feet and fists, not his weapons. Does that mean that the weapons are essentially “stat sticks” like a staff is for a mage? Or does weapon damage translate into real damage in some way, like any other melee class?

Monk’s weapons contribute to their damage just like every other melee class. They just dont use their weapons in the attack animations

They used to for some. It would be cool if there was a choice for it.

I really wish more thought was put into weapons like staves, where mages, warlocks and druids hold them out in front of themselves doing damage, or slam them on the ground, etc and that monks could wield them like Donatello, swinging them around, pole vaulting with them etc.

That said, for my main here I use fist weapons, so at least I see the weapons on him while fighting, for one monk I have duel red glowing swords that only ever stay on his back as a warning and another I just have a plain stave on his back that he never uses. My KT brewmaster monk has that cool stance where it’s over his shoulder, I wish more races could use that stance, but again, doesn’t use it for actual fighting, so a bummer.

Overall though, I really do wish we could do actual fighting with staves and polearms and even large swords in a more monk like or magic user way.

It annoys me so much that I have the stone fist artifact appearance for Windwalker, but they disappear while attacking.

They’re literal Hulk Hands and I don’t get to use them.
