I really wanted to play a Forsaken monk. I thought the idea would be so fun, but by lol 10 I was sorta turned off by the skills. After messing around w DK and War, Monks skills don’t seem to have any weight behind them. Do they get better or do other people feel this way?
Wait, level 10? Are you max level?
Nope just starting out. I just don’t want to keep going if all the skills feel the same, which is why I’m asking.
The first few levels of monk are difficult since you basically only have tiger palm and roll. Once you get a few more skills, ww and brewmaster fill themselves out.
As for being floaty, brewmasters are kinda like… the hunters of tanking. Lots of clutch kiting, and ability cheese if that’s what’s fun for you. I love the mobility of monk, even though we don’t feel quite as beefsteak steady as a bear or prot pally. We’re more… spongy and bouncy. Health goes down, health goes up.
Thanks for the reply. What about the dps spec of Monk?
It’s really good.
One of the most fun melee dps specs imo
I play My monk pretty religiously now and I do feel what you are experiencing is true. FoF throws out multitudes of fists to barrage their opponents but only deals damage every other second. The damage feels disconnected from the attack animation. The monk does have other abilities that feel like they have weight behind them but with FoF being a primary ability, It feels lackluster.
I can’t say you’re wrong.
The rotation is fun which keeps me playing monk despite the bugs.
However it feels more like an exercise of shadow boxing than actually beating the snot out of somebody.
I don’t know if there is a way to fix that. It’s not like Assassins Creed where it’s you vs. mobs. It would be a wildly more interesting if mobs reacted to every hit appropriately instead of just standing there doing their own animations regardless if what was thrown at them.
