Monk Safe Fall Idea

Every leather-wearing class has some form of Safe Fall, except for Monks.

Rogues: Reduced fall damage.
DHs: Glide/Double Jump.
Druids: Reduced fall damage in cat form, slow fall in Moonkin form, second jump with a particular talent in ground Travel Form, Flight Form if applicable and out of combat.

You’d think that Monks, with their so-called mastery of self and chi and all that, would have something to keep themselves from going “splat”. Here’s my suggestion.

Wall Slide: While against a surface too steep to run on, you can hold the jump key to latch onto it and reduce your fall speed for X seconds.

Timed properly, it would make you avoid taking fall damage or otherwise reset the fall damage counter to the point when the effect ends. With the caveat that you have to be against a surface, it seems unique enough.

For additional traversal/mobility options:
Wall Climb: Holding the jump key while jumping towards a surface you cannot run on causes you to clamber upwards, reaching higher destinations.

So kinda like a double jump, but dependent on walls. LET’S DO PARKOUR.

Edit: I forgot about Zen Flight because we haven’t had flying in current content since Broken Shore.

I was thinking more along the lines of Crouching Tiger hidden Dragons, where you could use the power of wind to help create drag and walk down through the air. Could be a channeled ability that won’t be quite as powerful as the others or has to be timed right before you hit the ground.

Monks are fine man, you guys got ton of mobility, and utility as it is.

I like the wall jumping idea, but it honestly seems hard for blizzard to implement.

The solution is simple. Make your monk a panda. Bam. 50% fall damage reduction!

This seems like too much work, honestly. But I would be fine with a small tweek to ZF to not have it be a dead button half the expansion and a niche ability the rest.
