People have been asking for a Chi-Weaver spec for a while now, it’s time to throw the obviously least popular and least loved (By Blizzard) class a bone. I feel like they should also be given a Battle Rez, but that can be discussed later.
Monk is definitely the least played class and it shows by how Blizzard treats them. I don’t play a Monk, I’m a Warrior only kinda guy, but I feel bad for them, mainly because whenever I complain about my class or spec being bad there’s always Monk sitting there like “First time?” they’re never meta, all 3 specs are often middle of the pack or just barely above average, or just downright bad, they bring very little to the group, which is something I complain about as a Warrior as well, but at least I have Battle Shout Monk has… nothing.
Giving them a ranged Spec would allow them to fill the Ranged DPS role will make them more desirable simply because Melee DPS is so competitive (Which is also why Surv Hunter shouldn’t exist) and it’s very hard to get into groups as Melee, but I would suspect Monks would absolutely have the hardest time since they don’t do the most DPS and don’t bring a ton of utility like a Paladin or DH, allowing them to ranged DPS would help at least a bit, and add more flavor to a class that has mostly been forgotten.

A class built on martial arts/hand to hand combat that you now want to revamp into a ranged dps… In Chinese lore these would be their version of archers. Light mobile unit using bows (later using guns) that had minimal martial arts skills. A hunter without the pet. Could work but getting Blizzard on board.

This is our martial arts class. He’s a master of hand to hand combat, skilled in the way of fist, sword or staff. Over a life time he has forged his body into a leathal weapon.
Anyway, he shoots lasers. Keep him way in the back.

Bender spec. Employ martial arts that generate elemental magic at range.
But then the shamans will complain…

If they get the same treatment as the current Monk specs then they’re better off not having another spec.
We do need more classes that can use bows or guns. Rogue and monk ate both options.
The rogue could be a sniper.
Ranged unholy when? They are literally 1 ability away from being ranged.
Just replace that one ability and the bonuses from melee attack with a spell with a cast time.
Blizzard even nerfed a level 10 Brewmaster twink on my server from queuing into Timewalking because he was trivializing the dungeons. There is no end to their dislike of the class.
i could see it being fun tho. sometimes i enjoy crackling lightning on a critter, palpatine style.

We already have a ranged rogue spec that uses guns/bows - we call them Marksman Hunters
