I’m debating which one is easier to get the hang of and master?
They are about the same to be honest. They just have different strengths and weaknesses.
Shaman has a lot more button and has really strong clumped healing, but weaker single target.
Monk has good single target and good aoe. It’s just very mana intensive.
Monk is better in pve by a long shot, can both be viable in pvp. Try both and see what you enjoy playing
Monk is the most fun I can have on healer in my opinion

I like monk healing more, but shaman can use the same weapons for elemental, which is a fun spec. Monks can’t use their healing weapons for windwalker, which I don’t enjoy playing. So for me, if I just played one, it would be shaman. I play every class because I’m stupid, so still play monk. I like playing Monk healer in PVP pugs, it’s quite strong in that environment.
With monk, and to a lesser extent shaman, you need to use the low cost spells as much as possible or you will run out of mana. As previously stated.

I find monk better tbh, much better burst healing and easier to get the hang of. But it also deletes its own mana very quickly. If we’re talking PvP or anything else, but PvP in particular, shaman can resurrect itself. In arena resto sham is the only one that can res once they die. I find monk harder to deal with though, because it has bubble (sometimes two) and really strong burst healing that can save you from near death.

shaman, in my opinion.
i healed with Monk a lot during legion and some BFA.
Shaman just feels more reactive.
That 12 second CD on the interrupt doesnt hurt either.

Yeah…I healed a TON with MW.
Shaman is more fun overall to heal and to solo with.
Probably personal preference.
I did well with monk. Just like shaman better for how it plays.

Shaman is the connoisseur’s choice of heals in my opinion, after you’ve played them all then played shaman it’s hard to go back

if for nothing else than that amazing 12 second cd on the interrupt.
I spam that thing in 5 mans.
With the help/harm macros I really just being able to throat punch a player with heals then being able to do a lot of DPS in between the next heal.
I like the more reactive feel to it.
monk heals well, it just feels…‘sluggish’, in my opinion.
The purge as well is so good, everything is great tbh
I just hope the changes dont ruin resto shaman in SLs.
Its my favorite spec now.
Im only maining druid for SLs because of the stealth and instant travel form change.
put those on resto shaman and its the perfect spec
