I always find myself getting frustrated when playing my MW Monk on weeks with the
Afflicted Affix simply because my primary heals do not heal the Afflicted.
Is there a reason why Ancient Teaching (aka Fistweave) healing does not heal the afflicted? Other AOE spells such as priest Holy Nova, Wild Growth, Chain Heal, Essence Font, ect all seem to heal the Afflicted Souls.
Just wondering why Blizz wouldn’t include Monks primary heal to also heal Afflicted Souls.
I would guess because it wouldn’t require you to deviate from your playstyle, thus allowing you to basically ignore the affix. Plus, at least speaking from a personal perspective, relying on chain heal to do Afflicted would result in them going off a lot and a lot of wasted mana, so I don’t think you’re at the disadvantage you think you are–unless Fistweaver has no direct healing. (I only play Castweaver)
Right I get that – however there are many affixes that other classes get to ignore. For example:
Priests and DKs get to MC Incorporeals.
Rogues, Hunters, and Druids get to Soothe the Raging affix.
Priests get to MD the Bursting affix.
Druids can simply shapeshift Entangle Roots, Palas can Freedom, Monks Tigers Lust
The list can go on. Simply saying a class would be too strong because they are better suited for an affix, I don’t think is fair. Its not like Monks are able to negate it like some of the ones I mentioned above. We still have to heal the Souls just like how we heal our teammates.
I would say this would be like Blizz making for some reason Souls untargetable by your Soothing Mists and you have to free cast on them.
I also understand that this point is somewhat moot because 90% of the time the Souls are simply dispelled.
These things all require them to stop what they’re doing, target something and use an ability outside of the general scope of their normal rotation. I don’t particularly care, I’m just explaining a possible thought of Blizzard’s would be that you literally would not have to pay attention to Afflicted, they would spawn and no one in the group would have to focus them because your AoE would get them 100% of the time.
I guess this is true, though I just stand in this stuff and finish a cast or two before just walking in one direction or another. I think every class/spec considers this affix comically free.
you can also spec into thunderous paws on these weeks and just ghost wolf the entangling off
On the afflicted topic it is already comically easy to deal with on a monk. One dispel and one instant vivify takes care of a double if for some reason you cant hit both dispels and no one is helping. If you were able to fistweave these it would instantly clear them every RSK and it would be a joke.
Would be kind of a nerf if fistweaving affected afflicted.
It would be split between your party and nerf your healing constantly. And I don’t think it would be healing them unless your party is full and/or have your 2pc on them.
Well you guys are not going to believe this. I just got out of a dungeon this eve and Ancient Teachings is now healing Afflicted Souls. It feels sooo much better, but it is not game changing- it is still better to dispell both souls.
It has made it easier to use a Vivify instant cast and then finish the rest of the healing with your standard Fistweaving Rotation.
THANK YOU BLIZZ! Whoever read this post and made these changes-- hats off, top marks all around.
Don’t party to early. It could be a side effect of the bug that they are currently also targeted by boss mechanics etc. so treated as real players. It could be that it is removed with the fix as well.
