Monitor Upgrade?

Hi guys,

I am currently using:

  • Dell S2716DG: 27" 2560 x 1440 (144 Hz GSYNC)

But I am very intrigued by:

  • Alienware AW3418DW: Ultrawide Curved 34" 3440 x 1440 (120 Hz GSYNC)

I have a GTX 1080 as my GPU. I have read some great reviews on this monitor (even on this forum, for WoW), but at $900 it’s not very cheap. I use an ultrawide monitor at work and I enjoy it- but I have never gamed on one. What do you guys think- Worth it?

Do you play a lot of games besides wow? Do you play older games sometimes?

I have a UW and it’s been pissing me off lately, I’d much rather have a standard widescreen at this point.

It seems like a waste of money compared to what you have now.

I just play WoW at the moment.

I think another thing to consider is the Alienware is a IPS monitor as opposed to TN (the dell). I read that WoW would benefit more from the vibrant screen quality/colors. I hope a standard 1080 is enough for solid FPS on a 34" UW?

Should be if your processor can handle it as well. UW is wonderful for WoW, other games not so much always, but if that’s not an issue I’d say go for it.

4k over 1440p UW imo since you have a 1080
