Monitor question

Looks like I will be in the market for a new computer monitor. Was wondering who has a curved one and how is it with classic? Do you like it? Or not really an improvement? Or just prefer regular flat screen?

I’m running a dual monitor setup with a MSI Optix G27C2 (27") and a Asus 1080p 22".

The monitor is ALL the difference. Seriously. My resolution is crisp and clean, my field of vision is immense, and the game UI has a lot more breathing room for me personally.

I also play FPS though so the 1ms response and 144hz refresh with Adaptive Sync are 10x more noticable on those games.

If you have the cash, you can get the ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q (34", 3440x1040 ultrawide, curved). That’s what I use and it’s great.

They have a new model out now, ASUS ROG SWIFT PG35VQ 35", goes for 2499.

I don’t have a curved one, but I have the Asus ROG PG279Q which is a 27" 2k (2048x1080) IPS panel monitor that can do 165Hz refresh rate. This is the main monitor I play games on. I also have a pair of Lenovo 22" 1080p panels that I place to either side of that where I can have secondary windows open. Discord, web browser, computer performance, and other stuff… So, 3 monitors in all, all connected using Display Port cables.

Since WOW runs in borderless window mode, I can just mouse over to any of my other monitors without tabbing out or minimizing the game.

I’d say a high refresh rate is more important than screen size and resolution. I prefer to have three smaller monitors that can be used independently than one big one.

They may keep that. $2500 is much too much, even for me :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I haven’t played too many high end graphical games yet so I honestly haven’t noticed a discernible difference for a curved vs non-curved on a 1080 nvidia. WoW is pretty old graphics so even a CRT would be great for classic, lol.

I have an Acer Predator X34.

Was thinking about keeping the old monitor for out of game info So I wouldn’t have to tab out. I think 27" would be about my Max with the room I have for the main monitor.

I would recommend a swivel desk mount for your screens if your desk allows it. It helped increase my desk space so much more then having it on a stand. Moving the angle of the screen is also a nice benefit when watching tv on the PC as you will tend to lean back and to the side more then sitting upright.

The mount may seem expensive, but it’s good material and should last you many years.

Curved monitors in general have severe issues with uneven levels of brightness and glare, often requiring very odd lighting setups to look right.

I don’t recommend them, ymmv.

Edit: They also produce weird “fisheye” effects in many games.

Low response time > refresh rate > color accuracy > resolution > size > sync tech

That’s what I look for in order of importance when I’m shopping for a monitor.
