What’s “a few moments”? MOLL-E should despawn after 10 minutes. Less than that would be a bug.
I have noticed summoned items disappear almost immediately if you are in The Heart Chamber when summoned.

Where is this happening? The Chamber of Heart got mentioned above; is this happening to you everywhere, or just some places?
In regards to the Chamber of Heart, premature de-spawning is not unique to MOLL-E. I have used the toy Katy’s Stampwhistle and she would almost immediately disappear every time. I’ve since learned to not use it while in that room.

This keeps happening as of this past week in Valdrakken, on all my engineers… despawns about a second after it spawns
Where are you dropping it? There are areas which cause this due to NPC protection auras and the like, but I’ve never experienced it in Valdrakken.
I noticed it happen last night by the Hearthstone portal spawn in Valdrakken, around the same area where you’re dismounted.
That area likely has an anti-toy aura in addition to the dismount aura, so this is expected behavior.
I decided to try placing one right outside the Roasted Ram Inn and it likewise disappeared after a second or two. Also Cozy Bonfire and Nightmare Banner vanished after being placed in the same location.
I know others have noted similar issues in the Stormwind Trade District, so this may be related.
Edit: Weirdly also have the same problem outside the Hero’s Rest Inn in Stormshield.

Some locations are restricted and will force temporary items including toys to despawn quickly. You should try to get a more precise location, like 12.1, 32.3 in Durotar so they can look at the location and see if it’s supposed to have forced despawn or not.
It’s happening everywhere, not just in Valdrakken. I used the toy in LBRS and it despawned in about 2 seconds.

Not working for a while now. Why is this so hard to fix?

+1 to the despawn problem. Notice it mostly with Nightmare banner in some places around SW like the harbor.
