and what are the age of the likes and views on Legion vs Drakthyr?

Bad logic is bad.

Don’t forget

  1. Renewed interest in WoW from wotlk classic and
  2. Dragon Isles as an expansion idea has been something people have been speculating about since 2007ish.

remember when diablo immortal video was suddenly missing hundred of thousands of dislikes, numerous times.
or when it was taken down and reuploaded to once again get bombed with dislikes?

its hard to trust certain things when they have been super shady in the past.
I really enjoyed the new trailer and I hope millions of others did too! Makes me happy as a fellow gamer!
But i still dont trust blizz marketing even a little

Dislikes were “removed” (you can’t see the count) between these two time frames.
With the removal of dislikes, the incentive to like also vanished.

Of course, that would make too much sense. Blizzard buying YouTube views is clearly where an unbiased, logical person would immediately go to.

what’s so surprising about that

Do the views actually matter?

Can’t recall seeing any blizzard advertisements that went “The expansion who’s trailer had over 100m views on youtube”

MoP (beloved as it was) wouldn’t generate that hype because Pandaria didn’t have a place in player’s hearts yet. Cata had crazy hype, but Youtube was a different world back then and the internet in general catered to a much smaller audience. WoD shot itself in the foot before it even got out the gate, we all know the story there. BFA and SL were wet farts even hype wise. The only other expac with comperable nostalgic “star power” is Legion.

The replies somehow trying to explain away why the Dracthyr video has millions of fews and only a few thousand likes (with the very apropos comparison to the Legion video that was actually organic) is really eye-opening at the average intelligence of people on here.

Those are bogus numbers, and they are 100% viewbotting to bolster engagements. Period.

A lot of people are probably watching the trailer through external sources atm. There won’t be any comments/likes from wowhead/discord videos.

yall sound like you should be wearing a super thick tinfoil hat as you talk about some strange conspiracy involving youtube likes that i’ve never heard until this moment. i cant believe this is a metric that people are actually concerned about in any way

Just looks weird tbh 7m views and 200 comments lmao :skull:

That is a moronic argument, Asmongold’s video that was put out 7 hours ago has 140k views and twice as many likes as a video that has 50 (FIFTY) times as many views. Think about that. FIFTY times as many views, but only half as many likes. How do you explain that?

I’m sorry but if you can’t come to the obvious conclusion that these are not organic you are either too deep in the koolaid or you have some kind of mental problem.

Fifty times. FIFTY.

Asmongold has an audience on the platform that’s watching on that platform. People aren’t actively following the wow youtube channel and see the video through external sources that don’t allow likes/comments.

Explained.

I will humor you this one time, but after that I will just assume you are actually that stupid.

WoW’s account has 1.6m~ subscribers on Youtube, roughly the exact same amount as Asmongold . Therefore both Youtube accounts are on the exact same playing field and should be getting around the same engagement. You have no argument here, but let’s assume that you somehow do.

Even ignoring your dumb attempt to try and say that somehow Youtube subscriptions don’t work for major corporations that embed their trailers all over the internet, let’s look at another major corporation that embeds their trailers all over the internet

Let’s take the official IMAX trailer for Ant Man and the Whatever that supports your argument - its been embedded all over the internet, in pre-rolls, in ads, etc. It came out 3 weeks ago and has 1,000,000 views - a paulty number in comparison to WoW’s 7,000,000 views. By your logic it should have like 500 likes then, right? You know, since it’s only got a 1/7th of the views and most of the audience will have seen it on different platforms outside of Youtube?

Well, guess what?

It doesn’t have 500 likes.

It doesn’t have 3000 likes.

It doesn’t even have 10,000 likes.

As I’m sitting here writing about your stupidity the Official IMAX Trailer for Antman and the Wasp has over 1,000,000 views and over 20,000 likes.

Please just stop and go away, Blizzard is viewbotting Dragonflight because the engagement has been historically low.
