Mods for the Blind?

Hi ya’ll!

Are tere any mods out there that might help someone who is low viosion? I have issues with glare and some color contrasts. The font in game is just too small to read even witht he largest font available. I have had to quit even 5 mans because no one uses the chat feature and as I said, some areas are very difficult for me to see (I am constantly adjusting my gamma and other visual settings even while questing.

The only thing that comes to mind is the BlindWarcraft project being worked on but that’s not going to completely address what you are looking for.

I have trouble reading the font as well and have put my desktop in a room that reduces glare and enhances readability

Well any help would be better than nothing. Is there a webite for this group?

I did that too and it helps some. I also got a keyboard from Amazon that has large print and it backlit. This helps tremendously.

Hi OP!

Do you use ElvUI? I ask this b/c I know it makes your font really small and can be annoying to try to resize.

(Just a quick note, I no longer have ElvUI, was far too much for what I want done in game, but I wanted to check with you first to see, so as to know what direction to go from that point.)

There is an addon that is lightweight called Extra Chat Font Sizes. The creator stopped work on it, but it does go up through BFA content. You might want to give that a shot and see if that works. I know it’s a temp solution. since the creator has stopped working on it.

I also just did a google search and in a past forum thread there were a few options posted that might help you out as well…I will link it below.

Good luck OP!!

Hi!

You can get it through Twitch if you get your other mods through that service.

It’s called BlindWarcraft Project

The CurseForge link is https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/blindwarcraft

Notice: the text claims it may be an abandoned project. I like Nyri’s suggestion to use a Extra Chat Font Size mod so go that route as well.

Ooooh thanks guys! I will check those out!

I do not use ElVUI….I found it to be a bit of a pain to work with so I usually customized my ui to how I like it using a few of their mods that they included in their mod package.

I used to have a 35" tv that I used as a monitor but my daughter’s dog jumped up on my desk and broke it…so I am back to using a standard monitor and its making my life Heck.

You’re absolutely welcome!! I hope you’re able to find something that works for you.

I agree with you on ElvUI. I was accustomed to using Bartender4, but all the ppl in my guild were always pushing for ElvUI, so I caved, gave it a shot and was like oh nope nope nope!! lol I went back to Bartender4. It’s small, easy to use, and perfect for what I want to do with my UI.

Not knocking ElvUI, it just isn’t for me…although I will say it was rather neat to see the AFK screen with it, my character and the background turning…but that isn’t enough for me to want to keep something with such a large option pool.

Good luck!!

Aw no! Bad dog!!!

I hope you find a solution to making your text easier to read. It can be a struggle to read at times.

There is a addon called Chatter makes chat letter bigger then normal game will do now…ck it out.

I accidentally found this page, that goes really in depth about what you are asking for (apparently this page talks about ways to play it if REALLY totally blind, to the point where you would be following a friend. )

https://www.everydaysight.com/how-to-play-world-of-warcraft-blind/

It lists a lot of addons to help, with general accessibility.
