Modern WoW quest designers could learn a thing or two from playing through the Horde-side of Twilight Highlands, beginning to end. It’s a near perfect zone design from a questing point of view- perfect atmosphere, emotion, and badassery- that last of which modern WoW is severely lacking. Prepping the fleet in Orgrimmar, building up the Dragonmaw, killing Alliance, destroying a giant tentacle monster from the inside, slaying dragons, conquering the ogres and the Twilight’s Hammer… compared to modern Disney-fied WoW, it’s leaps and bounds ahead. More compelling, more fun, and less artificial. Also… bring back old Drakonids. The new ones are embarrassingly cutesy.
They’re not drakonids, or dragons. They just scalies!
Not to mention there’s not a single line of voice acting in the entirety of Dragonflight with the unmitigated baddassery of “GET. OFF. MY. SHIP!!!”
I don’t care about any of that. As long as the quests are quick and i get to max level fast they could have me just killing boars to do it.
This feels like a thinly veiled Garrosh simp thread
Since I never bother reading the quest text or watching the cinematics they can do whatever goofy dumb garbage they want it will never bother me
I’ve never understood being happy with mediocrity. It sounds like a case of learned helplessness.
Something, something, “Toxic Masculinity.”
The days of good power fantasy are over. Welcome your blue-haired over-zhems.
See we need to bring Garrosh Hellscream back to have awesome quest dialogue again
There’s nothing toxic about masculinity in itself. If you’re bullying freshman in the locker room? Yeah, problem. But there’s nothing wrong with a stirring speech in a video game as one sets out to conquer one’s enemies. The whole point of video games is to provide a space for these fantasies in the first place.
I’m glad you agree that is likely what the Blizzard HQ probably looks like nowadays.
And, lmao, you folks are so touchy. You can’t even poke fun at the pronoun brigade. It’s true though. A power fantasy game of genocidal war now has deaf female centaur hunter leaders with her sign language interpreter. Oh goodness… Can we get a little more inclusive in our war game? LOL
Yeah but then you get 18 years of Horde players whining about how their leaders keep getting villainized and defeated because obviously they’re going to be.
Me not caring about the story in this game has nothing to do with “learned helplessness” the story of Warcraft ended with Warcraft 3 anything this game adds is worthless fluff I can go without.
I feel sorry for you that you don’t expect better.
Why would I expect better from the part of the game I don’t care about? I play for the gameplay not the story.
Why would you post in this thread if the subject meant nothing to you?
To throw out my opinion that the story in this game means nothing and can be safely ignored. I’m free to post in whatever thread I want just like you.
Seems pretty arrogant to think that you can just dismiss as meaningless what another person in the game enjoys. If you don’t have any interest in it, that doesn’t mean other people shouldn’t.
