It’s not slowly climbing or being same on every level, no.
WoW is 90% braindead easy content even infant can run through and then BAM! You suddenly need to know how to play and eveyone is angry at everyone for not knowing how to play.
Like, jeesus, atleast put some boss mechanics to quest mobs with real damage that needs to be cared about
Closest you’re gonna get is doing normal or heroic dungeons in a group where nobody’s overgeared. So, after the first 2 weeks of the expansion, probably not gonna happen.
The problem is that the game has to be tooled to the lowest common denominator. Bots suck and all but there are people out there who are just awful at the game and for one reason or another are still playing. When BfA first hit and people were asking just how easy the warfronts could get, people discovered when an entire team of AFK bots failed to win.
I don’t think there’s a super easy solution because the game doesn’t lend itself well to telling you what you did wrong and how to improve. Particularly in regards to rotations.
It wasn’t always like that, from Classic up to WOTLK you could still die while leveling and questing out in the world, it was actually harder lower level and then was way easier at higher level especially in WOTLK.
Cataclysm introduce way easier leveling but WAAAAY harder dungeons and raiding which made people whine about the dungeon difficulty so it got nerfed real fast.
And today you have as you said a brain dead leveling experience with super easy dungeons and as soon as you get to level cap this is where the difficulty explode especially if you try to do mythic +
The real problem is that you’re expected to know very specific information such as mob counts and what can happen with specific affix combinations on specific pulls in a specific dungeon at a specific key level. Specific.
Raiding has always toed the line, but Mythic+ has gone well and truly over it.
This is actually pretty true. Questing and even doing dungeons is super easy, but when you step into a Heroic - Mythic Raid the difficulty ramps up 10 fold. Compare that to Classic for example where questing and dungeons are actually a good precursor for what’s to come. I think they need to teach new players things like how important interrupts are, and why is there not a built in DBM yet? 90% of the playerbase uses it, from casual to hardcore, so the fact that they haven’t built in a system like this yet is crazy. Even with DBM you still need to understand mechanics on Heroic and Mythic raids and Mythic+ Dungeons.
You can’t compare classic leveling leading into dungeons to the modern era since dungeons didn’t have mechanics back then. The knowledge requirement is very different.
Now it’s largely about the dungeons having lots of mechanics and needing to kill things before they kill you (I…e. Quickly)
