Modern Orc clan issues

I kind of hope Blizzard changes the narrative direction of the orc clans that we are told to choose from in the orc heritage quest. I kind of find it lame that the shattered hand don’t continue their metal traditions of amputation and self mutilation. Also seems weird that the clan built around gladiators devolved into a rogues guild.

I find it extremely lame that the dragonmaw are literally just regular orcs now, like why even call yourself the dragonmaw clan if you have nothing to do with dragons. I get it, you feel bad about the whole alextraza thing, but instead of getting rid of it entirely, why not just be a clan who are very close to their dragons, err I mean “drakes”, and who humanely breed them like horses irl? I mean I assume that’s what the frost wolf clan does for their frost wolves.

And make Lantresor of the blade a clan leader and bring back the burning blade clan!

These are just some ideas I had cause I really like the old lore around the orcs. Don’t know if my ranting makes any sense

You… you know that dragons are sapient beings, right?

I mean maybe if they did that with like cloud serpents or the dumber proto-drakes.

I do think it would be cool if the dragonmaw formed a partnership with one/several of the flights, though. Maybe they reach out to the reds as a sign of contrition or something.

Doesn’t he hate his own clan and want it to die off?

If dragons are sapient beings then maybe they should stop giving me their young as battle pets and mounts.

So are wolves and horses. The drakes don’t really have the same sapience as the dragons of the flights. Or that’s what I thought it was.

Considering they just made those, I doubt it’s happening anytime soon.

They could learn to tame proto drake’s

The vrykul do it.

Vrykul are hardly the best moral compass but sure, that’d work.

Might wait to see how this whole thing with Vyranoth works out first though. She might have some thoughts about people treating her species like beasts of burden.

I’m just glad the heritage armor brought the clans back for modern orcs at all. Its something they’ve slowly drifted away from over the years. It’s really good to see it back at all.

For a while I thought the Mag’har would just run away with that aspect of orcish identity like the hated Lightforged that stole my space ship

They said before that proto drake’s are more primal an animalistic then normal dragons, so it’d be more likely to treat em like beast.

Except the smart ones like the primalist.

I’m pretty sure that speaking protodrakes is a butt-pull from the modern writing team. Proto-drakes is to dragons as gorilla is to human.

A related animal, and clever enough. But not working with the same intellectual tool kit

He is only half-Orc ,though…

But at heart, he’s more orc than any of us could ever dream to be.

Very poor choice of words.

They sure were breeding dragons alright. By force.

But when the frost wolves do it, it’s considered part of their culture.
But anyway yea that’s why I said do it but not in the enslaving sentient beings way.

Don’t look at me, I chose Warsong.

Are faydrakes native to outland/dreanor or to night elves? Im pretry sure they are native to outland/dreanor and thought dragonmaw could tame them thus keeping with the dragon name, but they ate very nightelfy

That I agree with. Would be neat if they had warriors in their ranks who worked closely with the Burning Blade clan remnants and said rogues are within the ranks of that broken clan like warriors are within their own – That like the clan chieftains of old, they adapted to being pragmatic: For the good of their clans.

It’d be cool to see Dragonmaw that splintered and ended up fighting for & with dragons so closely that they became closely affiliated with them and had a refuge with proto-dragons where the more intelligent ones are under their protection and the more wild-minded primitive proto-dragons are tamed as mounts & such – Helping progress their clan. That’d be wicked cool!

(That’d be more socially / story acceptable given the current dragon-lore in WoW at least)

It’d be neat if a handful of outcasts from the Burning Blade came together to Lantresor and said they were exiled or cast out for one reason or another due to the clans super uptight fastidious hypercritical rules & traditions. Show that the outcasts bested one or more of various ‘official’ burning blade clan members, then point out there’s more outcasts than those so called officials now.

… And have the outcasts suggest to Lantressor for the clan be reforged with the outcasts of renowned glory & honourable, like an old blade of legend that needs to be renewed and made whole again in the heat of the forge – That under his wing of the newly forged clan, they will show the remake from the embers of their forge: Like a Burning Blade.

They had missed opportunities throughout WoW expansions to utilise other clans and their strengths & history, and that’s quite sad :pensive: For example — Would’ve been nice to see some orcs to fight against G’huun or Hakkar blood magic in the past with relative ease, then in have some high-up villain question “How!?” – For an orc to reveal they were from the Bleeding Hollow Clan, and that they’re no stranger to blood magic. :smirk:

Perhaps in the future, eh? One can dream …

I just hope they don’t go to WoD clan lore and stick to the overall MU lore for the orc clans content. Shadowmoon Clan along with Ner’Zhul in the AU was an absolute joke. :face_exhaling:

Keen for the clan developments if Blizz decide to continue or open up the lore on continuing their stories and such.

They can start by giving us the banners as proper backpieces and not toys and throw in the much requested grey skin/yellow eyes for the Dragonmaw and Blackrock clans. That way we can at least match Gorfax and Eitrigg.

I support any and all development for races. It doesn’t have to be an expansion wide thing like WoD, just minor side quests that keeps the races of Azeroth updated.
