Modern Day WoW graphics in Classic

If Classic stay with the hype for months do you think Blizzard will give us the chance to play with retail graphics? For my point of view my character doesn’t need to look like crap to have a Vanilla experience, I know many people will argue about it but that’s why I said to give it an option to play with or without it, like when they first released them in WoD. What do you guys think?

Graphics don’t make the game. Gameplay does.

That same line of logic could be used to argue for toggleable character models. Just saiyan.

That’s why I said the option to use new models or old, if you want to play your character with the graphics of a smart phone game it’s cool, I’m asking if they would add that option if this remain a success.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t this require a massive amount of time and effort from Blizzard? Even if you’re for the change, we need to be realistic about what they’re willing to invest in Classic. It doesn’t make any financial sense to provide retail graphics in Classic when the graphics are one of the main draws of the current game.

You can still go into the Graphics settings and crank up those graphics beyond the rank of 2 (Classic). I did that on both systems just because I could.

Graphics don’t make the game, but I’m not afraid to take advantage of whatever eye candy I can get if it doesn’t cause performance loss.

if they did that… why would anyone play retail? it would cause all the retail kiddies to switch and it would kill Blizzards cash cow

Whoa, so they did make it so that your graphics would exceed vanilla levels? I mean I slid my graphics slider all the way to best graphics because I could as well… but I wasn’t paying attention to what the settings where to be at vanilla levels. I sorta just assumed it wouldn’t go beyond what vanilla was.

Except they would still be paying for it…And the people who don’t pay out of pocket would still have to grind Gold on Retail for the Tokens to continue their subscriptions.

right! but the high end of classic graphics settings is marked as classic, so you can put it back if you want, it’s what I play at, and I think it’s great.

My graphics look so sick already man,

Alienware 34" 120hz @ 1440p
EVGA Black GTX 2080ti

Locked at 120 FPS baby in all content. All sliders maxed for her pleasure.

Why would you frame limit with those specs? You getting noticable screen tearing if you go above the hertz rating of that alienware?

Idk I think the graphics are pretty good as is.

Because my monitor is 120hz.

No changes.

Also, merely implementing the new models into the game would inflate the filesize and the resource load even if you are not using the new models. It’s unnecessary.

nice, I maxed mine out to for a little while just to see what is was like, it was beautiful. but I couldn’t resist going back to the lower settings. my system isn’t nearly as good as yours but it handles exterior at 60 fps just fine. probably wouldn’t be so in a raid environment. glad you’re enjoying your experience

From my perspective, this “optional if you don’t like it don’t use it” mentality is what got WoW in the sorry state it is today. I don’t like the idea. I want it to be as pure as possible.

Is your monitor not G-Sync compatible? I mean you dropped the money on such an awesome card, I dunno why you would not use a 240Hz G-Sync monitor to really let you really fully utilize it to it’s full potential.

I find the lighting engine is way nicer in Classic. Seeing guards walking around carrying lanterns that light them up correctly. Sure the character models are old and dated, but I really like the old water, weather and lighting of Classic vs. Retail.

If classic proves to be popular in the long run I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets the Starcraft/Warcraft remaster treatment.

I played on a pserver with updated models and textures and it was pretty great. Vanilla also looks fine out of the box, especially with some of the graphical improvements that came with the modern engine. Slap a reshade on it and it’s pretty nice.

I agree with others, graphics don’t make the game, and I think anybody who can’t play Classic and enjoy it because of the graphics probably wouldn’t enjoy it with new graphics, either. All the same, if they presented us with a working, completely optional patch/toggle, I’d be all for it as long as people could completely opt out.
