So I stumbled into Legion today and the mobs there are hitting extremely hard, especially when compared against Dragon Isle.
Is this intended? Do I have to be max level and heavily geared out to make it through “old content” like this?

You can level in Legion from level 10+. It does not require level 45 as it all scales to your level.
The only exception being Suramar AFAIK as that was never a leveling zone, and considered to be end game zone.

Depends on your level and what you gear you were getting before hand.
WoD and beyond many npcs have a couple special abilities. Around the 30+ lv mark you don’t always get to stand in the bad without some detriment to your character.

Are you Flopsyprince on ESO?
Only if you activate Chromie time for Legion content.
If you don’t do that but somehow find yourself on that continent, it’s entirely possible to be out-leveled by the enemies there.

I switched to FFXIV for a bit but finally came back here after buying the current version in the recent sale.
Looking for a decent guild. I believe Icecrown will be my main server (not Staghelm) but I am still figuring out a LOT!

Can’t do another reply, so I will note:
The enemies were my level, but they hit a LOT harder than they did on either BFA or the Dragon Isles.
I was doing aoe pulls on a warlock with no pet out in legion at your level yesterday so idk maybe you’re having a skill issue.
Some Legion rares scale very poorly. Like “normal silver dragon rare with +2m health 1-shot KO’ing you” poorly. I didn’t notice any issues with normal mobs and questing, but it’s a big expansion, some areas might be an issue over others.
The mage order hall campaign is also locked until 45 only a few quests in, which was very annoying (no warning or gray ! marker, just turn in a quest and no follow-up anywhere).
Not sure about any of the other campaigns. And you can’t unlock WQs until 45 either.
Not sure why they even let us go there at 10 tbh.

I would have the same challenges on the Dragon Isles if that was the case.
I am playing the same way in both and barely damage in Legion but do fine on the Dragon Isles.
We are not talking Mythic+ here…

I leveled a Death Knight there recently and it went OK. I now have Frostmourne and all the Knights in the Ebon Blade think I’m their leader.

Nobody said we were, mostly because you cannot do m+ unless you’re max level.
Went from 26 to 39 on a destruction warlock doing some legion quests inbetween the legion timewalking dungeons and never noticed a point where I was being hit particularly hard, even as I was ripping threat from the tank. Granted during the quests i quickly fell into a rythm of just 2shotting everything alternating between shadowburn and conflagrate but it was really hard to see legion mobs as a threat. Were you perchance trying to solo the elites at the invasion?

The level 36 mobs were killing me at level 36. That did not happen at all in either BFA or the Dragon Isles.
My pets couldn’t get any agro as well and I died quickly in a few hits fighting a single mob right outside the starting point.
Some of you are missing that this is acting far different for me than the last 2 areas.
I will never be a high end player, but I was playing the start of the zone with a same-level character and getting hit far harder than otherwise.
I know claiming “get good” is a common tactic in game forums, but that was not it here.
I definitely could not 2-shot anything.

Given that you are experiencing an issue that I am not, I can only surmise that the issue is something you are doing rather than something innate to legion itself. Because if it was just legion doing that I would also be dying, we’re playing the same version of the game in the same level range after all.

That is why I asked. I could understand claiming it was “poor play” if I had the same problem in the other areas I noted.
I did find some web posts indicating scaling may be messed up, so I do wonder if that is playing a role.

Sometimes when you switch timelines, there will be a marked difference in the gear you get from different expansions. Although BFA, DF, and Legion were, in my experiences, fairly even… I know when I switched from doing Wrath to doing Chromie Time Shadowlands I was getting shredded until I got SL gear.
Generally the levelling mobs, no matter where, shouldn’t pose a challenge. Even levelling 70-80 in TWW shouldn’t be too rough, outside of random areas on the map.

I didn’t shift anything, just picked up the quest in Stormwind just outside the castle area. Some guy who sent me off to the spaceship or wherever it was.
Is that why it was so much harder?
