Mob tagging

I played all versions of classic that have come out, vanilla, tbc, wrath, som, hc, sod.

With SoD being kindve a “fun mode”

Would dynamic tagging have been something to consider?

I’m not trying to change other modes, but I feel like this could have been a nice change for SoD.

The amount of anger I’ve seen displayed from people stealing tags or waiting forever for a spawn just for it to be stolen.

I’m somewhat used to it, so it doesn’t bother me much but I’ve seen a lot of ragers in /say and /general over it.

what’s more laughable to me is people who refuse to group up for kill quests, and steal tags
maybe if we both wanted raptor heads, sure, we can’t share drops. but cmon man is sharing the 3 copper that important to you?

Meh… It’s only really noticeable during the leveling rush, imo… and it somewhat encourages opportunities to party up with other people, even though oftentimes that’s just a very hollow interaction of inviting someone, then dropping party.

Personally, I don’t feel that any change is necessary, as this sort of flavor of Classic is part of how it is… and I opted to level a warrior out of the gate (very slow swing timer).

Don’t get me wrong, I totally agree that it should never be changed for other modes.

And I agree it’s part of the spirit of classic.

But it’s also something I’m seeing friends quit SoD over because “its just not fun fighting for tags again”

I mean fair enough. If it’s something you’d like to see, then by all means champion your preferences and opinions!

Personally, I’m stating that I think this is just part of the flavor of Classic. If they decide to change it for SoD to follow Retail, then it’s just part of the flavor of Retail. It’s hard to say that a preference is correct, but I can give you my own opinion on my preference, and appreciate yours.

If people are quitting over this, then I’d suspect that they are maybe just burnt out and looking for an excuse, or it’s an excellent litmus test for whether they would enjoy the rest of a Vanilla-based Classic world anyway.

Of course, if the dev team decided to make SoD more of a Retail in the theme of Vanilla, then that’ll be the way they decide to go. That wouldn’t be my preference, but I could imagine some people would like that.

Yeah I mean majority of them did play through the other classic modes. So maybe it is just burn out.

“Fighting for tags again just isn’t fun”

Obviously there is considerations and concerns that dynamic tagging would increase the amount of loot generated.

But this is a gimmicky mode anyway imo so would that be soo bad?

Yeah, IDK. I’m pretty sure that some people would be all for it, and some others would be against it, whatever that’s worth!

If it does not bother you much, then why even post about it.
The answers are simple, and you have a few choices:

  1. Group up with others to either level together.
  2. Group up during those times the area is crowded or the NPC’s to kill are limited.
  3. Wait and keep trying
  4. Wait 1 day before starting. You are not far behind and the amount of aggravation of tagging is reduced.

I always choose #4 and #2.

Am I not allowed to open a discussion about it to see if others feel the same? I thought that’s what forums were for.

I’ve seen tons of anger in /say and /general about it.

My friends have expressed their feelings about it.

So yeah, while it’s not a huge deal to me, it is to others apparently.

Sure, you are welcome to post about anything.

Feel free to pass along my commonsense advice to your friends?

It’s almost like those options are what is “not fun” about it.

Well if those don’t seem fun, you “friends” should find different solutions then I guess.
