I know this has been discussed, but the first stress test I was unable to get in. However, the second one I hopped in briefly to be surprised I was able to at level 1 run straight thru the cave in the gnome/dwarf starting area. Even being terrible at the game at the time I’m pretty positive I would be capable of running past mobs. And i vividly remembering that cave being deadly.
You cannot trust your memory. You can trust raw data which is why math > human brain.
You can just as easily manipulate or corrupt numbers.
I often ran straight through it. Latency and lag from the stress test probably helped in your run through the cave.
Sorry, but if people easily run through the trog cave without risk and the “raw data” of 1.12 supports it, then 1.12 was severely nerfed compared to when most vanilla players started characters.
That I believe had an effect. It is the “lol, faulty memory” garbage being used to explain away how things seem nerfed that grinds my gears.
I didn’t notice any rubber banding at the time. It was also towards the tail end of the test so i was running thru solo. During that run i was no where near death. Either there were less mobs in there or they aren’t hitting as hard.
So what if it was? That completely backs up my point. Things changed and people’s memory tends to be extremely flawed.
I vaguely remember that as well going through it with my gnome rogue back then lol. Those Troggs were scary. It was either I had to fight them 1 by 1 to get through the cave or else I would die at the other end of the cave most of the time. However, they would have the right information on the dedicated server and my memory is invalid regardless.
That’s if you believe they have the original intact client. It’s very possible they might’ve tried to roll things back with some sort of backups they had and numbers got wrecked. It’s also possible mobs could work like today’s client and are scaling.
Couldn’t agree more. This “faulty memory” bs is infuriating.
I remember exactly how the athletics of my youth felt. There is also a lot of stuff in wow I vividly and accurately remember.
There’s been dozens of claims of the damage numbers being wrong and every single time those claims have been debunked with video evidence from 2006.
The numbers are correct, probably in all cases. Keep reporting things you feel are off but don’t be surprised when the game goes live and the numbers are the same as they are now.
I mean it’s plausible some things we don’t remember quite exactly right. However, when the majority of people are saying something isn’t quite right with damage c chances are memory is closer to truth.
Yeah, anything is possible I just hope they are able to find those missing puzzle pieces as I do somewhat believe some things could be more accurate.
A single shred of indisputable video evidence >>>> 1000 people’s memories.
Indisputable?
Yes, all the video evidence from Vanilla servers is pretty much indisputable. If someone says “wow this mob should be doing twice the damage!” and I link a video from 2006 that shows the mob hitting for exactly the same, that can’t really be argued against, can it?
Where’s our link?
You can remember 15 years ago when you did the thing 100 more times since?
This is probably the dumbest post I’ve read in a while.
Your “videos” are probably from a private server, too. There’s no way you can prove it.
