Before all the console single player rpg games and the pc mmorpgs there was Dungeon & Dragons table top type rpgs people played with character sheets, miniatures and rule books around a table with their friends. And lets not forget Dice.
How would you compare the two types of play styles. Regarding the experience benefits of one over the other?
I feel like my tastes change as I get older. I’m not a huge fan of board games because why play a board game like monopoly and go through the process of sorting the pieces and counting the money, when you can have a video game do all that for you. But! I do like the close proximity of friends enjoying a game
Competing in video games is something a card or tabletop game just can’t compare to. There’s nothing like you and a few people pushing and timing a hard key that the majority of players can’t complete in time. It’s such a rush. Tabletop games are straight Poindexter lol.
modern board games are actually so good
board games require more thought and imagination, console/pc games require more adaptive/reactive ability and talent for button sequencing etc
huge board game guy too tho. i raid 12 hours a week during prog and in the offseasons i prob play 6 hours a week of board/tabletop games
They’re all a different side of the same d&d nerd dice
I personally like DND with IRL friends, I enjoy this a lot. I love laughing and having a “stress free” game of DND. But I see WOW as my competitive and keyboard smashing addicting game.
i mean if their both on Consoles and PC’s, then it’s just single-player RPG games and MMORPGS, but i digress.
Well, Single-player RPGs/MMORPGs makes the process of looking at your sheets, rule books, miniatures and dice less tedious to go though since that’s been done for you for the most part. And for Single-player RPG’s in particular, easier to make rules up as you go, i.e Mod.
Gotta have my Thomas the Tank Engine flying around Skyrim while i spawn a hundred cheesewheels down a mountain to crush some pour Nord via my console command. 
Tabletop is for playing with friends while MMORPGs are for playing by yourself.
