MMORPG or not?

Why do we have this obviously completely broken scaling system? Well some non-gaming rich dude decided it’s a good way to save time and make more money. Scaling is a HORRIBLE IDEA in general for MMORPGS… MMORPG … that’s what this game is classified as still right? Not mobile or clicker? Oh the hero skill tree awesome!!! Wait… its all passives?? oh wait we don’t even pick our passives we just get them all??? LOL??? HERO SKILLS !!! SO AWESOME!!! THIS IS NOT AN RPG anymore… Just a lazy cheap way of making the game easier to balance so that no one cry’s, even though they will cry anyway.

WoW is just a cash grab now

sucks bad :frowning: I loved this game and they keep tricking me into coming back to this s3#@$show

WoW is a mix.

It has elements that are MMOish, like the GCD, tab targeting, character classes, heavy emphasis on itemization, crafting.

It has elements that are live service game stuff, like lobby game play loops, seasons, overwhelming emphasis on short(ish) instanced group gameplay.

And it has some elements pulled from mobile games (and Asian MMOs, which often are more like mobile games) like many separate currencies being needed to progress, gear upgrading, cosmetic item shop and so on.

It’s clearly no longer a “traditional MMO”, but it hasn’t been that for a long while now. It’s a hybrid online game that has some MMO elements, some live service/lobby elements, and some mobile elements.

It’s plenty an MMO though? I don’t understand. The Hero Talents augment already existing abilities to be more thematic to the hero path you pick. Why is this a bad thing?

It feels like you are just complaining to complain.

They need to at least remove the RPG part because that’s super misleading

This is a social experiment

there’s zero RPG elements in that , zero options zero fun. Thats why. I loved this game till people came here to complain to make the game easier and easier so now I have to come here and complain to try to fix anything so me and my wife can actually have fun again.

Well you are certainly allowed to have your own opinion. I don’t agree with it. You’re complaints are extremely vague, what specifically do you think the game is missing?

the ability to actually have a unique character that is not so cookie cutter that everyone is exactly the same. A fun experience in dungeons where me and my wife don’t have to try to chase down the tank that is a mile ahead of us. Any feeling of excitement and challenge without needing to go into mythic+.

The game may not be in a great spot right now, but it’s still an RPG. Also the trees have a couple of spots where there’s 2 choices. Also some of the classes get a new ability with the hero tree, like Hunter gets Black Arrow, etc etc etc.

Me and my Husband are fully enjoying Delves. Don’t have to chase around other people.

I don’t really see how WoW is somehow more “Cookie Cutter” than it was before. At least beetween Shamans, Paladins, and Hunters (The three classes I’ve played so far) the Variety is pretty obvious.

It’s not like we’re playing FF14, where one character can literally do everything, characters do still have a uniquness to them, and there’s a variety of different ways to build characters.

Even if you follow the “Cookie Cutter” builds on things like Icy Veins, They offer you optimized builds sure, but you still have a choice on what you want to do. And you don’t have to follow them.

Have you attempted the Delves up to Teir 8? No Mythic+ needed. No timers, nothing like that, but still dungeons-like experiences that you can enjoy with others.

I am not really certain what you are looking for. To be honest you’re complaints are extremely vague. How specifically do you think the classes can be more “Unique?”

It’s clear you are frustrated, though this sort of feedback isn’t really going to help anyone. It just looks like a rage post of someone upset that just wants to gripe for the sake of being upset.

oh yeah I forget my balance druid did have one choice between two passives which one was way worse then the other…

“This is not an RPG anymore!” Huh?

Pretty much 13 classes, 38 specs, 25 playable races. Now multiple expansion avenues to level through with Chromie Time giving more choice than ever. A bottomless pit of unique lore to find depending on your choice what to play as such as the new heritage questlines, artifact questlines, class / race flavor quests like unlocking green fire for warlock or manari for Draenei.

I mean… idk, what exactly do you classify as an RPG? The game has roles, multiple classes and races, and various zones you’re free to explore and discover from the get go with many things to find.

we did delves, they were ok for a little while then we just got the same loot drops and open the handful of treasures.

Why don’t you and your wife tank and heal so you can control the pace of the dungeon? Or just do follower dungeons together?

come on now, I’m talking about the simple basics LOL , my caster does not even use mana!!!

In my head I thought Microsoft taking over was not going to be a big change in the game, but I was wrong, the WoW I once knew is gone, I think they fired the people who were the best at adding a new xpac and scaling things properly.

I wonder if anyone is left at Blizz that cares about WoW or are we all just a bunch of children playing a video game in their eyes, walking dollar signs.

Maybe they will get tired of us and sell Blizzard to Chuck E Cheese.

Can I ask why

The only two conditions for WoW to be a MMORPG are:

1 - it needs to be able to have a massive amount of players together in the same “game world” through the internet, AKA an MMO.

2 - it must be a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting, AKA an RPG.

So far I see nothing that disqualifies WoW from either condition.
