My first MMO was Ultima Online - 1997, but I didn’t really get into MMOs until 1999 for Everquest
Does text MMO’s count? lol. Late 80s/early 90s. dial-up BBS running MajorBBS with Forbidden Lands. Later added Tele-Arena and MajorMud.
Dabbled in some random telnet MUD games. In around 1995 I was playing heavily the Two Towers Mud which was LOTR-themed and had around 100-150 players on pretty regularly. First graphical would be Neverwinter Nights on AOL in and around that same point, but it was mainly because I got some free AOL hours and it was just too costly to stay subscribed lol.
World of Warcraft 2005. Blackrock.
So you left Pre-CU, which was hot garbage, and came to the game that they emulated the NGE on? wat
You should never have given them money. Camelot Unchained will never see the light of day. It’s just an old hope by people who miss the old golden days of daoc. Jacobs make the mistake of selling his soul and company to EA and I’m sure now he totally regrets it.
I left when NGE came out. SWG was at least SWG still even during the pre-cu imo…
I feel they butchered the game once they released NGE.
I loved SWG. Played on Tarq as well. Torringtonn Redfield .
I hologrinded (hologround?) 27 professions trying to unlock Jedi. I’ve been looking for a good sandbox mmo since.
The Realm 1996
( ** now known as The Realm Online. It was designed in the tradition of graphical MUDs, before the usage of the terms “massively multiplayer” and “MMORPG”. **)
World of Warcraft! Magtheridon realm- 2005, wow I feel old
Ultima Online - Sonoma Shard. I can’t remember the month but in 98!
Still kind of miss my tower, i had tons of rare tiles in it.
I had a Commando, Beast Master, and ended with a Teras Kasi back when they were OP… Teras Kasi was prob the most fun I’ve ever had with an MMO class.
I played “Neverwinter Nights” some. I played a game on Compuserve, too, but it was so expensive! Like $6 an hour! I can’t remember the name of that one because I only played it for like one week.
I played EQ for awhile but then it was mostly WoW right before BC dropped.
Everquest 2000 Luclin server.
Everquest - 1999 - Torvonnilous
Unless you count MUDs, MOOs and MUSHs.
UO 2000 Asuka Server
If we’re talking first MMO that I didn’t just use my dad’s account to play on, that’d be Toontown in 2003 (unfortunately the original game is dead because Disney probably realised that the game was making fun of them)
Same here! But I used world 2. Everyone was trading so the mobs were all mine!.
Starsiege, Summer 1999. (PA) TechMan
Predators Alliance, Founder.
DAoC 2001 (blank on server🤷♂️) Albion!
50 Cabalist
50 Friar
50 ArmsWoman
Gawd I miss my Cab and my Friar!
If only WoW Monks felt like Friars and had cool staff moves!!
If only Dwarves could be a Golem Summoner Pet/Necro Class!
Daoc had the best classes in any MMO I played!!
Dark Age of Camelot was super damn amazing it was funny when you were in a group and you would all start dropping like flies because of some invisible assassin… and to this day I despise classes that are invisible they should be removed from every single game
Everquest
1999
