I’ve been using a turtle for solo content.
Do ya’ll recommend something else or am I doing right?

Against reason, ferocity pets are more tanky than tank pets (tenacity) due to the leech. A ferocity pet with a defense CD like the clefthoof or corehound (50% damage reduction CD) are miles better than anything from the tenacity family. And ferocity has heroism. Cats are pretty good too (30% dodge).

The cat’s stealth can be pretty handy if you want to scout out a hall with eyes of the beast, or get them real close to a pack to draw aggro before you.
Yeah tenacity pets take less damage but ferocity ones heal over time. That scales with damage so if you get the “your pet eats a mawrat” power that’ll increase their healing temporarily too.
I just did a lvl 4 run as BM focused on pet damage and I stopped having to cast Mend Pet on cooldown halfway through the final boss

Clefthoof…hands down. I have been playing with one since the beginning of BfA.
They were asking for MM…Clefthooves are exotic and therefore only tamable by BM Hunters. I wish this would change they’re one of the most unattractive beasts in the game. Glad i play MM now. lol

I’m using my pretty Unicorn from Bastion. Just ran a 7 with it today. Fleethoof is a great ability - makes the pet dodge +30% for 20 seconds. Good to pop at higher stacks of end boss for a shot at some extra tanking before you gotta kite.
Honestly, doesn’t matter too much, just use a Tenacity pet.
I use a bear pet. It will auto ask a dodge attack under 30% health. Cast mend pet. Next time it gets low pop exhilaration.

Somebody else mentioned in another thread that you will not want to use the Tier 1 talent “Animal Companion” talent with a Ferocity pet in Torghast. The main pet damage is decreased by 35%, and this decreases their leech as well.
Next time I go into Torghast, I’m going to use a Clefthoof with the “Killer Instinct” talent.

I’m using gorilla it can take punch and it gives me hero + leech.

Don’t choose Animal Companion though. It reduces your pet’s leech by 35%. Use Killer Instinct instead.

Run BM then.
Looks like I’m going to have to run MM for Raids. No reason you shouldn’t run BM for Torghast.
Unfortunately, that’s the state of the class right now. I don’t like it, but that’s how it is.
The question was what MM pet to run.

Any ferocity pet with a defensive cd. Non exotic ones are scalehides and gorillas for damage reduction and cats, corsers, and wind serpents for dodge.
I’m also finding pet snares to be useful, as it means you don’t need to spend GCDs on Concussive Shot. Currently running with a Wolf.
I switch between my scalehide for boss fights and my spider for trash.
Scalehide has leech, a defensive cooldown and lust and spiders have the leech and a slow.
