Hey there. Im really trying to learn AoE Rotation for M+. I’m seeing differing information on Icy Veins, which is kind of confusing me. Am wondering if someone would be patient enough to break down some information for me, some addons to use maybe. Anything that would really help me. I appreciate any time spent on responses.
MD - Death Chakram - Explosive Shot - Volley - Potion/on use/True Shot before ES goes off - Aim Shot x2 - Rapid Fire - If you have Lust or PI you can get one more Aim into Volley depending on your haste - then into your alternating Multi Shot - Aim Shot/RF rotation.
Doesn’t some of your RF cleave get clipped because Volley falls during your RF in this scenario? Iv always MSed after the 2 Aim shots because of Bulletstorm. I could be wrong though.
Pretty sure you just need volley active at the start of RF.
You want ES before DC, DC will apply the damage amp before ES explodes, and then you get an extra GCD with the damage amp active.
Chakram is a physical amp only and using it first makes makes getting your pot and on use off before ES detonates too tight. I guess when you’re not using those things it would be the better way to do it though.
What is MD? Misdirection? And, what potion/pot are you referring to?
MD = Misdirection
pot = Elemental Potion of (Ultimate) Power
The cleave 100% ends if volley ends.
Is there a macro for Misdirection? So i dont have to continously click on the tank? Also, for Volley, is there a macro where I place the volley on the target im clicked on, versus having to set it myself? Im horrible with macros and keybinds.
Thank you, very nice rotation.
Add me Carmine#11390 I’ll give you the TLDR if you don’t mind joining discord we can hit some target dummy’s for a bit!
Ice veins has some macros for hunters.
I use alot of em but I just copy paste so i can’t type it out by memory
For Volley there is no macro like that but you can create a macro for it to cast right away at your mouses location without having to put the green circle, so it feels much better imo.
For misdirection there are some very easy macros though. (I just use my healbot icons though so I’m a bad example)
Also you can’t really be “horrible” at macros, you can just copy paste macros from guides, have faith in yourself!
I will do that when I get home today. Mine is Hawke#11122. Thank you.
Historically, I’ve set the tank as my focus, and used this macro:
#showtooltip
/use [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@focus,help,nodead][@pet,pet,nodead,nogroup][]Misdirection
More recently, I was linked a weakaura for “Smart Misdirection” that auto assigns a target based on the tank role, leaving your focus free to use for things like CC or priority interrupts. That has worked flawlessly in M+, but sometimes gets the wrong tank in raid.
I don’t have access to the WA right now as I’m at work but I’ll edit when I get home.
Edit: This is the WA I was referring to:
https://wago.io/n9Sg1NLb5
If you are using that, I would suggest you modify the macro as follows:
#showtooltip Misdirection
/use [@focus,help,nodead]Misdirection
/click SmartMisdirect X 1
PS, if you have macro questions, message me Adreaver#11707. I wrote the macros guide on the official UI & Macros forum.
For the sake of including the information for others who are searching for it:
Volley Macro:
#Showtooltip Volley
/cast Salvo
/cast (@cursor) Volley
Note - the above macro includes Salvo as they both have a 45 second CD. This also allows the Hunter to control when the extra Explosive Shot’s from Salvo are used. If Salvo is not wanted, simply delete the line item.
Misdirection Macro:
#showtooltip Misdirection
/cast [@focus,help,nodead][@pet,help,nodead] Misdirection
Note - The macro incudes a Focus Target as well as whether a pet is summoned. In group content, like a dungeon, set the Tank as the Focus prior to starting. The only issue with a Focus Target macro is that some dungeons (Ruby Life Pools, The Azure Vault) that have the player travel using in-game mechanics causes the Focus Target to drop requiring that it be reset. The pet aspect of the macro is useful when running solo content with a pet out (setting the pet as Focus is not necessary).
As was mentioned, both Wowhead and Icy-Veins have guides that include sections describing some useful macros.
Haha, I have been tanking and healing for years. DPS really is quite different for me, outside of Fury. I am learning MM, but some of these tanks blitz the whole dungeon and i get a little panicked lol. I have the volley macro with salvo, and i hit it without paying attention to my cursor and end up dropping it behind me. Im like, oh jeeze, i hope no one notices haha.
I’m also guilty of accidentally dropping volley behind me lol don’t worry, and I’m 2600 IO
But yeah it takes getting used to.
You picked a good dps class to start with imo because MM and BM hunters are easy to play and have good flow.
My favorite is dropping Volley on a tree root or chandelier at ceiling height.
Dropping Wild Spirits on the ceiling of Sanguine Depths was always fun.
