MM is just depressing in PvP and it makes me sad

I’m incredibly bummed right now. The spec is just so incredibly clunky. One dimensional. So incredibly reliant on your team to make anything happen. I feel like I’m on crutches the entire time. Getting traps is a nightmare without stuns. Everyone has so much mobility now and it’s ridiculously telegraphed. Aim shot is the least enjoyable ability in game. It’s so slow and so unrewarding for the amount of damage it actually does.

I loved MM in MoP and earlier expansions. I felt like I had tools. I felt like I could contribute. Now I’m 100% beholden to my team to help me. Pet dying to the most random things.

Just now was doing some games with a friend. We have played disc/hunter for almost a decade now. Been 2300+ in 2s many times and now I’m just struggling at 1700-1800. Every warrior team… Get trap. Stormbolt… sit that, disarm. Trinket that, feared. Rinse and repeat. Slow the warrior and use resonating arrow? Leaps out of it or intervenes healer.

Scatter sharing DR with trap is just the dumbest garbage in this game. Just remove the trash ability. It’s so pointless to have scatter and not actually be able to use it.

Sorry sorry sorry… They have just ruined this spec. I started as SV and venthy and swapped to MM and kyrian. Now I hate the spec so much I think I’m just going to swap back. Pet or no pet.

What they have done to this class is just wrong on so many levels.

Most of the top tier talent has left Blizzard, even Ion is ilvl 227? And his game is burning and he has enough time to get to Mythic CN. Blizzard has lost so much talent, energy and desire. Activision removed their annual bonuses, all while Bobby Kotick gave himself a 35M bonus, employee morale is rock bottom. In the past they had a very small team focusing on PVP, maybe 1 person at one point, now there’s no one. The new mantra is doing less with less.

Activision - where good developers go to die.

Yea. The incredible part is this stuff is so obvious. Fixing pet and removing Scatter from Trap DR would go a long way in improving the spec. Not that MM can’t succeed, but seeing the best players do it doesn’t translate to lower MMR. MM doesn’t bring enough to the table versus anything else right now. We used to be unique with traps, now have to waste honor talents just to get explosive trap.

Even for Torghast, the spec is just trash compared to many others. My boomi, warrior, and shaman can breeze through twisting corridors solo. My hunter has trash buffs and is so incredibly slow.

I get that the spec has had good damage for PvE raiding and M+, and that is as much a blessing as a curse when it comes to PvP. I don’t want more damage, just some tools that actually work and a pet that doesn’t die in a fraction of a second.

Yeah with you 10000% I did a similar post the other day which I am rerolling warrior now just hoping for hunter fixes while playing a class is fun but would only like to play my hunter tho.

Yep. Have already done the same. Been playing my warrior and enhance a lot. Started doing arena again and was just constantly apologizing to my friend for all the complaining I was doing. It’s just incredibly frustrating.

We fought a lock team and during CDs I used Exhilaration to top my pet from 10%… my pet still died through my heals. The lock did 40k damage to my pet is about 5-6 seconds. I was just swearing up a storm. It’s incredibly defeating.

Then a few games later I fight a warrior and ONE Condemn did more damage then my Exhilaration… One global completely negates our only big heal. One global.

It’s pathetic how bad this spec and class is now. Completely reliant on our teams to make anything happen.

The sad part is there are so many things that could be done to make hunters more viable in PvP without massive reworks or coding changes but blizzard for some reason refuses to listen to the hunter community or is completely oblivious.

Remove GCD from double tap and resonating arrow, make scatter shot baseline for all specs and remove the DR share on traps and make explosive trap baseline. Even these small changes would help greatly.

Other changes I would love to see are giving us back 2 charges of deterence aka aspect of the turtle, giving us back silencing shot baseline over CS, making binding shot baseline for all specs and making aspect of the turtle useable in stuns. Blizzard also needs to address the fact that our improved instant cast arcane shots in MM hit almost as hard as our 2.5 second cast aim shot. The lack of damage a 2.5 second cast does is ridiculous.

1000%. Hunter’s were ruined when PvP talents were introduced. While many specs picked up new abilities and kept most of their other abilities as baseline, hunter’s lost crucial talents. Roar of Sac being a PvP talent is terrible. Same with Explosive trap. Explosive trap was super useful for PvE and would be amazing for M+. To that, Roar of Sac should be like Iron Bark. Give it some damage reduction and let it be used for PvE. This would be amazing for group utility.

As you said Resonating arrow needs to be off GCD. That’s exactly what I meant when the spec feels clunky. By the time I can make damage happen, I have already wasted 2-3 GCD’s and that gives whoever I’m facing ample time to react. Teams are so so so quick to move off RA now that the ability is useless. Players would RATHER stand in the open than be LOS and stand on RA.

This is why PvP sucks so much for MM. Our rotation has massive flags that let players know exactly what’s about to happen.

Double Tap > Trueshot > Explosive Arrow > RA > Rapid Fire > Aim Shot > Arcane Spam.

The problem is, as soon as we use Double Tap, teams are already on the run. Okay… So my friend goes holy. I scatter heals while he stuns the kill target. So I lead off with scatter, but by the time I start casting aim shot, THE STUN IS ALREADY OVER because I just wasted 4 GCD’s to get damage going. Okay, So I double tap and trueshot first and am wasting time, but this means I have faster ramp up. Ah… To late, the enemy team already used defensives.

Agree. To that, deter needs to be INSTANT and not rely on the animation before taking effect. I have multiple screenshots of dying AFTER turtle has been used. Imagine the same happening for mages ice block or pali bubble.

I’m sure people will argue that I used it to late, but that’s coming out of CC. I still got the ability off in time and died .2s later.

They also need to buff exhilaration or just remove it. The healing it provides is less then a single WoG, healing Surge, Shadow Mend, etc. The fact it’s on a 2 minute CD and is affected by MS and dampening makes it garbage. I have had it heal for under 5k with 40k hp. A 2 minute CD healing for less then 5k. Just remove it.

I agree with the above. What is the point of removing our core talents Roar, Scatter only to reintroduce them in a matter that nerfs the class indirectly by giving other classes a buff. We need to pick these core talents while other classes essentially get buffed by getting to choose 3 new spells.

MM should have mending bandage as an available PvP talent.

Old school Hunter here, I agree.

I got my hunter to 60 in retail but it’s so meh, I miss old school hunter.

I also hate pets now, they die so quick and are just so generic, feels like an NPC more than a pet.

Pretty pumped for TBC hunter tbh, after HWL in classic I can’t wait to push arenas

Absolutely. To that, it should be a cast that has to be interrupted or cc’ed to be stopped. Damage alone should not break the channel. I should be in a turtle having it break just because it’s lock damage instead of bleeds.

Yep. Both PvE and PvP, pets are severely lacking in tools. My pets die all the time in Torghast. My boomkin, warrior, and shaman can all pull and tank more than my pet. Makes 0 sense.

The frustration is justified and as Intrapment said earlier, there are a variety of quality changes they could to fix and or tweak regarding the spec. Often it’s crazy how the general assumption jumps to big comprehensive or cohesive changes in regards to the spec and or class when in reality small changes and or tweaks as again Intrapment listed earlier could quite easily elevate the class/spec and see it jump into something more hopefully. :call_me_hand:

For sure. A small change like removing Scatter from trap DR would go a long way. It’s the main reason I’m swapping back to SV, despite the pet issues. Getting traps shouldn’t be this difficult versus some teams.

Outside of that, if we weren’t constantly having to protect our pets, we could instead focus on the important things. To many games I’m just saving CDs to insure the pet lives. Huge waste of time with barely any benefits.
