This may sound very dumb but what do we do to keep ourselves alive in like world boss group content? I’m mainly a solo MM player and I don’t have any problem with staying alive in solo content. I got my pet tanking (I know, I know, but I like having a pet) I got my Exhilaration, and I got Feign Death when things go sideways.
But when I’m doing group stuff, mainly the weekly ZM world boss, I often get wrecked. There’s lots of outgoing damage and often the healers aren’t healing or aren’t too good at it. So each time my health gets low I have the options of Exhilaration, lock cookie if I have one, or Turtle and hope for healing. Once those are used…
So many of my alts of other classes have so many options for staying alive. I think the only alts of mine that seem to have fewer options are my mages who have no real direct self-heals. They’re the only ones that die more to that boss. So, yeah, what do? Pet with Spirit Mend, maybe?
I went necrolord on mine. combined with the heal talent and other stuff you shouldnt have any issues. if you’re dying from world boss its lack of heals or youre standing in stuff.
Like it or not, MM is one of the glassiest specs in the game. I recently swapped mains for this season from MM hunter for who knows how long, and I can’t tell you how frustrating it was to be the only one on the team in M+ that needed extra attention from the healer because of unavoidable damage that we just don’t have an answer for (tyrannical Grand Proctor Beryllia is a good example of MM being a flat-out liability sometimes).
Dunno if DF is going to address this at all, but it’s an unfortunate part of the MM kit. Just plain squishy.
The ZM boss has that barrage attack that, I think, just hits everyone? And there’s those swirly explosions that don’t give you much of any time to get out of. I’m def not standing in the aura around the balls or the cone of insta death.
Doesn’t make it any better, but I’m glad it’s not just me.
One extra tip is to make sure you are using the Feign Death and Hunter’s Mark conduits. Turns both into defensive abilities, and will often be just enough to take the edge off and give your heals an extra second to help you.
Potions? Necrolord shield? Stack leech? I don’t struggle with Antros as most of the damage is telegraphed and avoidable. Turtle for his first AOE and Survival/Fittest for the second one. If he puts the DOT on you though, you will need some help from the healers.
Personally, I keep mobile to make sure Im dodging and out of the way of as much incoming as possible when running either BM or MM.
I think I died once on hunter to some big world elite where I didnt move fast enough. I dont honestly expect healers to bother trying to keep everyone alive like they would a raid group.
My hunter seems to have issues with Antros as well, particularly that AOE debuff he drops on folks that chews through almost half the health bar. I’ve had instances where I got hit with that 4 times in a row and there’s not much that can help with that.
What I personally do is try to stay almost but not quite at melee range so I can be in the AOE heal area when those come up.
Feign death will drop the AOE debuff off and turtle can help, but if the RNG gods are against you, not much help for it.
This is always my problem on my Hunter. If he gets the mark he’ll usually die on the second round of it without healer assistance. If he doesn’t get marked he survives easily.
This is your problem. As a solo player you have no idea how to teamplay, there’s no special trick in the book to solo-survive, this is an MMORPG. A world boss is group content, meaning, you need to know mechanics and be close to healers - they keep you alive. You need to learn how to play with other players OP.
When I do Antros on my MM hunter, I learned what works for me is get up front with all the melee players. Take advantage of all that paladin light and other mass heals being spread on the ground. That and of course don’t stand in bad stuff. That seems to work for me anyway.
