Mistweaver question

So my wife and I are back and ready to start playing again. She loves the Pandaran Mistweaver look and idea. However, we are both confused on how the mistweaver heals. She wants a pure healer as she doesn’t like to “engage” in melee and likes to just stay back and heal and let everyone else melee or DPS. She was thinking it sounded like the MW needs to melee in combat in order to heal properly or something like that? Obviously she will toss in damage when she can, but is it required to get into every fight and melee in order to heal effectively?

No, you don’t need to melee as mistweaver. They’re is a certain build for that, but it isn’t required. As a mistweaver, she should be focusing on keeping her hots up constantly and vivify healing to cleave heal on her hots. And then soothing mist EM vivify for heavy single target healing.

Just like Toebias said, mistweaver has a build dedicated to healing via extending our hots through using our melee abilities. It’s only just surfaced this patch, though. There are other builds for m+ and raids. As for pvp, I couldn’t tell you since I don’t do it.

In general for mythics, you’ll go crit/mastery for stats and just focus on keeping ReM’s up on the party. If she talents into Focused Thunder then she can cast two 30s ReM’s. It’s basically just keeping those up and vivify targets that need health. Stacking 3 Uplifted Spirits on her azerite armor will also help her throughput. Use Enveloping Mist on tanks taking heavy damage.

For raid, it’s centered around crit/vers and using Essence Font with Upwelling at >10 stacks. Stacking 3 Font of Life azerite traits do well for that as well.

One thing she may need to help with, though, is applying our 5% physical damage debuff to enemies if there isn’t another monk in the group. It adds up very quickly.

While the new build based on haste and rising sun kick is performing better it is by no means required and any content can and almost certainly has already been cleared by mistweavers using the other build. The only people it would be required for are people at like a world top 10 level or the very tip top of key pushing.

The one thing is to make sure that all mobs get the mystic touch debuff but she can do that will 1 spinning crane kick then roll back out if she wants to.

Only time I get in melee range is to apply the 5% damage debuff.

Everything everyone in here said, and additionally she’d want to look up the Upwelling talent is the one she’s looking for. The Rising Mist talent is for the fistweaving(haste) build, she’s looking for an upwelling(crit) build. I use upwelling a lot because I love to heal when I’m drunk and it works better, but when I’m sober and focusing I will switch to fist weaving.
