is mistweaver’s better healings come from damage that turns into healing?
In M+, a pretty significant portion of it does with Jadefire Teachings, yeah. You’ll spend most of your globals on melee abilities that convert to healing and whip out cooldowns and/or cast healing abilities on your allies when the damage pumps up higher than your melee damage to healing can handle.
In raid, we don’t take Jadefire Teachings but we have a baseline conversion rate, albeit it’s at a MUCH smaller percentage, so the damage → healing isn’t quite up there in terms of HPS.
is monk in raids decent healing or more at the bottom or at the least is monk raid healing uncomplicated?
Depends on talents/content IMO.
If you run Way of the Serpent/RWK/Mistline/Tear of Morning type hybrid builds like me - not really. Base toolkit stuff like SG/RenMist+RWK/EnvMist is buffed pretty significantly to make up for lost maintenance healing through JFT/WotC.
If you run Jadefire Teachings/Way of the Serpent builds - yes/see the above post. The recent buffs to this build/playstyle make it more melee/dmg to heal conversion heavy. There will be more SCK spamming with the most recent change too - if you enjoy that.
Either way the spec is still played in or close to melee regardless of build/talent selection - and you are usually mixing in casting with melee abilities to some degree regardless of build now a days. If you arent JFT/WotC talented you still press some melee buttons in downtime but mostly to get procs and keep ren mists coverage going between bursts of dmg/healing.
It is similar as before IMO but due to removal of significant healing modifiers and power baked back into base spec abilities it is somewhat less complicated at the same time. IMO I don’t think it is complicated though. Practice makes perfect and understanding the ability/talent synergies is important.
Healing numbers were a bit behind in raid last raid testing but since then we have gotten back 30s TFT, mana tea buff, and significant Mistline buffs that should help bring us more in line with other healers. The overperforming healers have been nerfed somewhat too ( like disc ). They could also nerf vivify costs a bit for raids probably imo.
If there is more raid testing there will be more chances to test/check if the most recent buffs made any significant difference though - till then it’s guess work - but I think it will be better. In m+ we have other issues outside of HPS and IMO from testing on the beta I dont feel like HPS is the issue at all. The issues lie more so in the lack of utility/raid buff/no significant DR tank external/low healer DPS for a “melee” healer class.
I wouldnt worry or doom unless you wanted to bring MW to raid to world first or do like the most highest keys to be the top .1%. If you are just chilling and doing your 12-16’s for vault or 3k+ ( end game ish key level ), or are gunning for aotc and/or non RWF mythic progg - you will be fine. ( if your goal is to push to +18 I suggest finding a group of people to constantly play with, pugging will still be quite annoying for us )
With how hard every other healer was pruned Monk is probably still the most “fun” healer. ( IMO )
