I started mist weaving this expansion, the start of season 3 finally felt like I was doing something and really fun! Now it is going back to being extremely squishy, and less healing. I don’t find other healing classes interesting and now this class is getting nerfed for no reason. I just might stop healing in general.

To be fair, Essence Font is crazy. Sucks it had to get nerfed though since output is the biggest driving factor to bringing a MW to Raid.
Mana changes are whatever tho. Won’t do anything.
The defensive changes in PvP will hurt a lot. Specifically Healing Elixir, since they did a stealth change where it would be used while in loss of control effects. Could eat pressure and hold Trinket sometimes.

Mana tea changes are a massive nerf for raid builds that use 1-2 seconds of tea before essence font or soothing+enveloping casts.

Yes, that’s true. My thought process seeing it is that (Anecdotal) I dont see Mistweavers usually falling below 25% mana rn in my Raids.
Is it a big nerf? Objectively, yeh. I won’t challenge that.
Will it make a significant impact on mana bars? Possibly. I’m leaning slightly towards no, but I could be wrong.
I know for me personally it won’t matter since I dont use much mana to begin with.

Honestly whoever doing these balance changes for mistweaver needs to be fired the hole raid build feels soo clunky!! Essencefont was worthless all of dragon flight now that it some what decent they nerf it!! Mistweaver been at the bottom of the heal class all dragonflight now we back in the sun for 2 weeks they nerf us!! But yet blizzard babby resto druids get a lazy buff to everything by 3% wtf!! Honestly they crap on mistweaver again im dun with this game forever im tired of mistweaver always geting poop on by blizzard!! They just want mistweaver to use one spell vivify !! How lame

meh, I suppose for me it’s not a big loss since I don’t use upwelling so the 10% reduction is not especially dangerous.
I’m not particularly good at mana tea so I can’t really say how much that reduction will add to costs.
Omg please tell me this is just PvP I swear if not I might just tell my Guild I’m done this season and going to play Classic SoD till Blizzard stop ruining the one class and spec I enjoy
I see you left out were we got our dps nerfed by 10-15% but sure they baby us . Let’s be serious about mw monk in raid though. Is it good? Yes, after these nerfs is it still good? Yes. Will you want more than 1 in your raid pre/post nerfs? No, not at all cause they lack the utility and major cds that other healers have. Raw hps doesn’t mean anything when it’s a burst dmg window encounter where hps means nothing for 90% of the fight and what you are doing is cd rotations. 1 is fine for the monk buff as you don’t particularly want a ww or bm but that’s it.
I think it’s for just PVP, it was in the PVP category for balance changes.

Do you play monk?
Our CD is on a 1 min cooldown so it’s not very hard to line it up with most burst windows
The changes to EF are really lame because it finally feels good to use and so does upwelling (which has to be a big increase to ever be taken, now it’s really tough to justify outside of the 4s HoT extension with Rising Mist builds)
I don’t know why they are jamming vivify direct healing and invigorating mist down our throats it’s such a simplistic and boring playstyle… oh press vivify someone’s hurt press vivify
Whereas actually doing cool mana tea → upwelling EF is actually very satisfying to start off your healing window before applying ReMs/EvMs and extending those with Rising Mist
———
Blizzard has been making tons of changes to monk that have been degrading the value and fun of Rising Mist builds (Ex. The nerf pre 10.2 on the proc rate of Misty Peaks proccing enveloping mist, the choice node between tear of morning and rising mist — which originally in SL could be taken together and Tear was only viable because of Rising mist)
and shifting them into these instant cleave heals (massive vivify cleave and sheiluns gift) which is fine but has massively simplified the rotation — sure let that be a playstyle but stop nerfing the rising mist playstyle which is one of the most fun healer style there is and one of the only reasons I play monk healer)
It is much more satisfying to me anyways to do well blanketing the raid with HoTs and then sniping the procs with the instant vivify and a follow up vivify if needed and using my cooldowns well. Misty peaks should be made into a more exciting rising mist effect where it actually becomes important to hold RSK for those EvM procs — that would actually be interesting skill complexity to add but right now you just ignore stuff like that and RSK at the time to get the most optimal HoT extension
I don’t want to be a vivify spam bot which is what they are trying to turn us into

Blizz said a while ago that they want to put more emphasis on single target heals and reduce the amount of overhealing. Imo this is the exact opposite of what makes healing fun. MoP healing felt great due to tons of auto targeting/aoe heals and required very little raidframe interaction.
If blizz thinks it’s OK for one role to glue their eyes on the raidframe nonstop, they shouldn’t be surprised when healers just flat out quit.
Some of the vivify changes are really nice don’t get me wrong I think that vivify is now a much more reliable heal compared to SL and also Sheiluns Gift feels good too but the playstyle has been sooo simplified because of it
EF was literally ignored by majority of Monk community before 10.2 changes and now it feels good and they are nerfing it again
So far they’ve really shifted a ton of healing out of HoTs and into direct heals which is okay for 1 type of playstyle but need to bring back more flavor and fun for the Hot playstyle — monk is supposed to be flavorful Buffy hot effects that all interact and you need to micromanage the interactions
Monk in raid was all about ramping with all of your HoTs right before damage goes out THEN vivify cleave while you have everything rolling and buffed or like when there’s a constant Rot, landing a full channel 18 stack Upwelling Essence font is super nice and gives you a change of kind and time to think in the raid and position yourself for mechanics lol
Now it’s just like keep REM up and vivify the lowest health before the other healers can

Soon we’ll be back to healers stepping on each others toes, and having to interrupt your cast because someone sniped the damage and you need to conserve mana.
Excessive homogenization for the sake of balance, draining the fun from the game and still failing to balance it. Good times.
Can you even believe they are about to nerf EF by another 8% and enveloping breath by another 10%!?!? The funny thing about enveloping breath is they just added it in dragonflight and I personally loved it. It made the stupid pet cooldown actually useful. Now they keep nerfing enveloping breath and it’s pretty much useless now. They have literally nerfed it at least 4 times now. They might as well just remove it.
Whole point of playing this game is to get stronger. Each reset mw keeps getting huge nerfs. Literally like the last 3 in a row. I’m suppose to be getting stronger but every week I log in I’m getting weaker. I put more gear on and get weaker. I’m going backwards. This is not fun.
I’m sorry but If you have to keep nerfing that same abilities week after week by 10% at a time you straight up just had no clue what you were doing in the first place. Nothing should need to be nerfed by these margins.

We are following the endless MW balance cycle to a T:
- MW is not great
- MW gets OP tier set. Good for 3 weeks.
- Base spec gets nerfed (mostly) instead of nerfing the OP tier set
- OP tier goes away. MW is in a very bad state.
- Rather than reeling in the previous nerfs to the base spec (which never get rebuffed again), they give us brand new passives or spells that add to our ability/aura bloat. MW is now more complex.
- Repeat back to #1, but this time with one fewer keybind available.
(We’re in step 3 right now)

i see a lot of people complain about essence font and want it removed, and that scares me for the reason you just said: i use essence font to, like, acclimate myself haha. to check out my surroundings and mentally breathe for just a second and realign my brain to my space. I need it. Pls don’t take it away

During Shadowland, EF + Upwelling is very good, will heal all parties to full during bursting debuff. Now the nerf +++ will make EF useless again.
The reason for the changes is because MW is over performing in raids. Nerfs to these spells dont really impact M+ performance. Even after these changes MW is in a good spot. What other posters have drawn attention to is what worries me. We are gonna be super weak when we lose this tier set.
