Just pointing out priests also don’t have battle rez or hero (not just monks).
And historically having or not having hero or a battle rez doesn’t mean much in determining the meta.

All healers should have a B rez at this point. It’s not about being “meta”, it’s about having a solid toolkit and being able to prevent/revert some mistakes. The Engi Rez items just don’t cut it. They arent that great unless you have time to run to the dead guy and cast for 2,4,6 seconds, which is rare in higher m+. They are harder and sometimes impossible to pull off. Not to mention they don’t help if someone died in bad or got knocked off a platform/into a bad area.

What you are explaining is the exact reasoning why I believe all 3 specs suck right now. We have to press an awful lot of buttons for mediocre performance that still lacks the utility and/or mistake reversion that other classes can bring. Having nothing else might be justifiable when we have top hps/dps to make up for it.
Unfortunately, when we are on the lower end as we are currently, it makes you feel like the class is not good for playing beyond a certain level unless your friends are just being charitable.
I had to use it on grim batol last boss like 4 times. Every time while I ressed someone, someone else died. Then having to find them and navigate the tentacles…it was an absolute nightmare. Only thing missing was the Benny Hill music.

Monks were a nice addition thanks to the now removed auras that boosted healing received, movement and cant remember the other - dmg taken on aoe?
having 1 monk in raid was amazing
MW needs something , but giving it to all monks would make more sense

My dude you’re arguing for the sake of arguing. Giving monks a bres or ideally lust would not break the game. I know for a fact when I have to pick a DPS, tank, or healer I need to make sure I am covering a good solid bres and a lust. I take mages even though historically they are garbage in pugs and occasionally you get one that blows me away.
To say we wouldn’t get picked up in pugs or add immediate value in a preform is ridiculous. Rogue, Warrior, DH, Priest, and Monk are all sitting on the sidelines because of the lack of utility. Its that simple.
You’re forming a group and you have no bres. Are you picking a ret pally, frost dk, arms/fury, rogue, or monk in the queue? Easy choice right? Ok. Remove ret and dk and add a feral druid. I bet you take the feral druid, strictly because of bres.

Its not that priests are bad but if you see a priest, shammy, and pres evoker in queue and need a lust you’re grabbing the one with lust. Even if priest was better. You disagreeing is just lying.
Never said it would break the game and I’m not opposed to monks getting one.
Just that the meta is never driven by who has hero or Brez.
In your example it depends on the season, right now ret and frost DKs are busted so they will get invited. In DF that frost DK wasn’t getting a sniff of consideration despite having a battle rez, same as a feral druid. If it was DF before the Ret rework they weren’t getting invited either and probably would invite the rogue (assuming all were similar gear and score).
Spend some time in the Druid, shaman, and DK forums about how amazing it is to have hero/Brez for invites…
The resto shaman gets invited because he’s busted.
If it was later seasons of DF I’d invite the priest and just use drums.
Dk can go unholy or blood. You still get a bres. My point still stands. Every group needs a good bres and lust. Rets are great because they are pretty tanky. Why bring a monk? Mystic touch is good for melee comps but it doesn’t replace a bres or lust utility.
I don’t buy it. Lust over drums weren’t even close especially on tyrannical keys. Augs were really broken so you could argue you’d seek out an Aug and thereby pickup a priest which I would agree.
I’m running my monk with my son who loves assassin rogue and a friend who has been warrior forever. It makes it more challenging but not impossible to form a team. It would be much easier and would make sense for monk to have a bres though.

It’s funny to look at say, DF season 3 “peak mythic+” and see all the melee with hero or battle rez in the gutter except Ret (feral, enhance, UH DK, FDK, and survival) while havoc, dps warriors, and rogues all had way highe rep. Monks being in the middle.
Again, I’m not opposed, but it’s not going to be the panacea some thing it will.
Engy res does not compare because you have to be literally right on them and it has a long cast time making it dangerous to use. It has saved keys for me but it’s more like a desperation move than something to rely on.
As for holy priests (since most people point to this as the reason why these don’t matter), they are often meta because of seasons that make power infusion on certain dps classes absolutely busted.
I don’t think anyone is saying it will be a panacea. Hard Push groups would still take whatever was 1% ahead in something because that’s just the nature of the top end of the game. However, most groups are not that and having utilities groups want would absolutely give people who want to play this class an easier chance of getting in.
