So your saying my claims are tenuous and in need of further testing. Wow, what a profound conclusion; oh wait I said precisely that in the OP.
I would like to turn my anecdotal experience into something more concrete. Instead this has been mostly people questioning whether I am able to recognize whether a line is stacked or not, despite my constant assurances to the contrary; nevermind that the thing is not that difficult to tell to begin with.
To be fair, how many times have we all seen someone say “ahh wtf I dodged that!” in relation to them splattered by an avoidable mechanic? We regularly see all kinds of wild claims here, so it’s hard to take someone’s word for it.
It depends. If the boss is being tanked in the water next to one of the clones, the lines that are pointing back on land are often clipped into the floor due to the height differential. Similar to how with ToP minibosses, if a player targeted by the leap is standing at a certain spot on the stairs, the ground effect becomes invisible.
Terrain very much can be an issue, especially in the midst of additional player-created ground effect clutter interfering with the readability of the cast.
I’m not saying that what you’re claiming is impossible, as I’ve certainly experienced a lot of ridiculous M+ bugs this season. The most memorable one was Goregrind spawning and instantly zooting himself off of the necropolis to fight something, and then showing up about a minute later floating down in from the sky in this bizarre stutter-step motion back to his spawn position.
I just don’t think you can fully rule out the possibility that you were hit by two separate lines.
