They forgot the marking color feature. I remeber playing wow back in 2005 making a night elf druid with green hair and red markings. Soon im going to find other missing things besides marking color and gm island.
I hope you’re kidding ![]()
Only the females had “warpaint”.
Males did not. Males got the “Druid” and “demonhunter” faces.
I meant the females
Did you just assume that person’s gender?
I think you might be a bit confused. All the green hair colors would have a matching green color in the facial tattoos. The red facial tattoo came with the dark blue hair.
It wasnt like that when i pkayed vanilla wow though. That matching marking color and hair color together came out in cataclysm. I liked it better when hair and marking color was seperate.
There was never a color feature for markings, they changed color with the hair. Dark blue/blue-black, blue & Purple had red markings, White had purple markings & the shades of green had shades of green markings. Note that only females have multiple facial markings, probably because they were Sentinels & Elune’s warriors/armies.
Edit to note that I started playing in October 2005 & my first character was THIS one. The only thing I have changed through the years is hairstyle.
Any source, like vanilla era video of character creation?
I remember making my first night elf in 2005. There was a seperate option for marking color.

I sure can’t remember that long ago how I got my marking!
I remember creating my NE druid and double checking the color combinations between hair/marking and druid forms to make sure I had what I wanted correctly. There was never a selector for the markings (facial tattoos) to be separately assigned, they were tied with the hair color.
