Missing Hunter Spells

My son just got an account to WoW. He got a lvl 110 boost token so he created and boosted a hunter. Now, going through his spellbook with him, i noticed he does NOT have TAME BEAST or DISMISS PET. How is he supposed to get these spells restored to be able to tame more hunter pets? I have checked both spellbook and pet page and neither have the spells.

The spellbook should have something called “Pet Utility.” It has a fly out menu with the pet commands like Tame Beast and Dismiss Pet. (If you’ve played a mage, it’s how their portal spells work in the spellbook.) Also keep in mind that some of the stuff is contextual. Mend Pet becomes Revive Pet if your pet is dead. (I won’t tell you how long I played my hunter in Legion thinking Mend Pet just wasn’t a Marksman ability because I only looked at the Pet Utility menu for it while my pet was dead.)

With any of those “fly out” spells (a menu of spell buttons flies out from the main) you can open the spell book, click the Pet Utility button to fly out the list and then drag and drop individual abilities from that list onto your action bar.

There was a bug with the boost tokens back in Legion (I don’t know if it was fixed or not) where upon boosting, the majority of spells were missing from the player’s spellbook. The fix for that was simply to log out of the game and log back in.

Assuming that bug was fixed, then as Udiza said, you’ll find [Tame Beast] and [Dismiss Pet] under the “Pet Utility” category.
