Orylia advised me to post here about this problem.
Here is the chronological list of events:
Tuesday night I created multiple (mostly void elf) alts with varying names for my Dracthyr until I found one that looked good to me.
About a day ago I logged into my 3 main bank alts to restack their guild banks to 1000 stacks instead of 200 stacks.
I had bags and bags full of stuff then put the items back into their guild storage with bigger stacks.
I did some invasions stuff.
I noticed my name placeholders that I made while finding the right Dracthyr name and so deleted about 6 or so void elves that I didn’t need anymore.
I did more invasions stuff.
Before logging out for the night I logged back into my bank alt Bnkrpt and found her naked and with no bags other than the single main bag that cannot be replaced. She had a full set of bags before this!
Her personal bank was also completely empty, each slot previously had a bag and some stuff in those bags!
I had many battle pets in her personal bank, mostly all my extras from events, etc. but some were purchased with extra Argent Tournament points. They are all gone, bank is empty.
Logged out and logged in my other bank character, a level 1 druid called Treeoflife. He was also naked and had NOTHING, no bags, etc.
Both had appeared clothed on the character selection screen before logging in but after logging out they showed naked on the selection screen.
So far that is the only two that had this happen.
Both guild banks appear to still be ok.
I opened an in game ticket which was closed within 24 hours and was told that it was being closed due to high volume and I don’t think the issue was looked into.
I posted in the customer service forum and Orylia suggested I do a full interface reset.
I moved everything out of the retail WTF and Interface folder and rebooted my computer.
I logged back in and both toons appeared clothed again on the character selection screen but after logging in Bnkrpt was still naked and everything missing. But Treeoflife had everything that he did before this happened so he is ok and the problem is just with Bnkrpt now.
Originally I had thought maybe messing with all those stacks of guild bank items caused some internal problem but now I suspect my deletions of the unneeded void elves might have internally wiped something out related to Bnkrpt’s storage.
